For generations, molinos have served as celebrations of the most honored culinary tradition in our Mexican culture — nixtamal! Translated from the native Nahuatl, nixtamal is the production of corn dough, or masa.

The molineros’ millenary artisan techniques in the nixtamal process are the foundation for creating all great antojitos — the craveable snacks sold by street vendors all across Mexico.

Our mission is to preserve and promote the beautiful, bio diverse treasure that is heirloom, non-GMO Mexican corn. We work directly with local, small-scale farmers to ensure our grains are sourced in an ethical and sustainable way. Our authentic, fresh, small-batch recipes allow you to experience your favorite Mexican dishes the way they were meant to be — the same way we enjoyed them as kids!

Highly recommended. Fresh quality ingredients, great flavors, unique dishes, generous portions, pleasantly presented. Enjoyed the guacamole, ceviche tostado and taco plate (duck and lamb). Will be back for shrimp gorditas. Spicy paloma cocktail had a nice sparkle and not too sweet. Super friendly and informative wait staff. Will be back

We felt ripped off! We had the Valentines Day menu with six courses which was around $85 a person and I selected that option in advance. But it did not meet expectations. There is Maiz on every dish except for the last course which was flan. We paid $248 for two people which included 2 glasses of wine. They did not present the bottle before pouring and took almost 1/2 hr to bring one glass of wine. The waitress kept taking our silverware without replacing which left us staring at our next course until we could get her attention. The other folks were very kind and the meat was delicious but too salty. The salsas were great. So we got a a lot of maiz and two glasses of wine and some mole to try at home. For the pricing this was not a place we will ever go back to.

This was a nice intimate restaurant with a friendly environment. The food was a great, staff were friendly, helpful, and answered all questions with enthusiasm. If you are looking for a quiet, small, friendly atmosphere, this is a the place, The price was also reasonable, even with drinks. I had the carne asada house special and it was great and the wifey had the seafood soup and she loved it. Hope you enjoy it if you go!

I travel from So. CAL & was craving some Mexican food; highly recommend this restaurant. The service was amazing it felt welcoming and warm during the festive weather. The food was delicious, I got the classic chilaquiles & barbacua. Also the Horchata Latte was delicious.

Our first time at Maiz Molina, and it is now a favorite! From the minute we walked in we were warmly greeted by two fabulous women who explained the menu items, gave great attention to my food allergies, and served us the most delicious authentic and creative entrees. I had the tongue tacos -outstanding!! My husband had the short rib dinner entree. AND the best tortillas I've ever had in my life. 5 ++ rating. We can't wait to go back and try the entire menu options. Extraordinary staff.

Incredibly disappointed in our experience. We had a 10 am reservation. We arrived and ordered drinks. Drinks took 20 minutes for a coffee and michalada. Food did not arrive for an hour. There were two other tables and no one got their food until nearly 11 am. At 10:30 the server walked out of the restaurant and returned with a plastic bag and walked over to a table and told them now we can make your fruit plate because now we have fruit! Seriously? Is there any food? We could see that the kitchen was full of staff working. But absolutely no food was coming out. When our food eventually came out at 10:55 am the server put it down then asked how we were doing. We said food looks good but it’s been a very long wait. We said it has been nearly an hour. He just said: ok enjoy! Like no acknowledgement at all of the very long wait. Later when we paid he asked again how everything was. We said again that food was fine but it was a very long wait. An hour was very long time to wait. He just smiled and ignored what I said. Like seriously at least acknowledge the situation. It’s frustrating when food takes a long time but at least say something about it. Like how about sorry? We asked if the kitchen was still preparing for the day and if that was why it took so long. The server very reluctantly nodded. Like why is this place open at 10 am? The kitchen was clearly not ready for customers. Maybe have staff come in an hour early or just don’t open until 11 am because that when all the food started coming out. I’m leaving this review to give feedback to the owners/managers since the server is clearly incapable of addressing the issue even when customers try to discuss it.

My husband and I came here for dinner after sampling their chicken tinga tacos during a street food tour. At night they offer traditional Mexican entrees, not just tacos, which is well worth it. We started with lengua tacos and they were by far the best lengua tacos we've ever tried! We also had the pork pipián and the zarandea. The flavors were beautifully balanced and the ambience was fun and comfortable. The waiter was very welcoming and helpful in explaining the types of dishes they had to offer. Couldn't recommend more.

Came here for dinner, food and service were amazing! The ceviche was the best I've ever had. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming and the staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back!
