At Mallard, Chef Johnson will apply classic and global techniques to the culinary traditions of the south while incorporating the best local and regional ingredients available. Undergirding it all will be a sense of hospitality rooted in Johnson’s memories of the family table.

Mallard’s menu will range from Chef Johnson’s take on classics like Shrimp and Grits with Smoked Pork, Piquillo Peppers, and Tabasco-Shellfish Nage and Wild-Caught Blue Catfish with Poached Oysters, Summer Corn, and Smoked Trout Roe to new creations like Seared Sea Scallops with Cracklin’ Cornbread, Charred Peaches and Dandelion Greens and Crisp Berkshire Pork Trotters with Ramp Chow Chow, Sunny-Side-Up Egg, and Edisto Island Grits. Dessert options include Buttermilk Panna Cotta with Rhubarb and Almond Shortbread and Banana Puddin’ with Cracker Jacks and Nilla Wafers.

    We had an amazing experience! We booked our reservation to celebrate Valentine’s Day. We definitely felt the love and appreciation from the staff. The food was soooo good and beautifully plated. The glassware was so fun and unexpected! We will definitely be back to try the full menu. 10/10 experience

    A really fun take on southern food traditions, from start to finish. I went with a group of four, all with different food preferences, and everyone heartily enjoyed their experience. Of note were the tartare, the duck, the beer list, and the desserts.

    Took my friend out for dinner here during Restaurant Week. Loved it! We got the fried oysters, beef tartare, pork cheek, shrimp and grits, Key Lime pie and "cigarettes and coffee" for dessert. My favorite was the shrimp and grits: the grits were soooooooo creamy and the shrimp were massive. Beef tartare was also a standout. Both desserts too. Not too sweet. Would love to go back sometime.

    Amazing dining experience from a diverse menu with a great selection to a wonderful wine pairing. I especially enjoyed the brussels sprouts and coffee and cigarettes dessert. Both my guest and I said we would both be returning. Thank you to the staff for a wonderful evening!

    came here for a solo birthday dinner and my expectations were surpassed! i did the restaurant week menu with the wine pairing and everything worked perfectly together. thank you to the chef for amazing creativity in the menu, the host for sharing in the aquarius joy, and my server amber for making the whole experience seamless and a fun time ! i'll see y'all again soon.

    Service and decor was outstanding. Mains were a bit one note and felt like they could use some acid to cut through some of the heavy richness. Loved the Virginia ham tartine. Both desserts were fantastic.
