Born and raised in Kansas City Missouri, southern hospitality is on the top of our list. It’s more than tradition. It’s ice cold beer, key lime pie, and a party in our backyard. Our family wanted to turn passion into a reality in 2013, so we came together and opened Mallards. With Dad in charge of the menu all of our favorites started showing up! From Jambalaya to Tennessee Hot Chicken, our story finds itself on each and every plate!

The food here is very good. We have the crab dip, Seabass, Jambalaya and Mediterranean Pasta and key lime pie and apple pie for dessert. Other than my pasta being over cooked, everything was great. What they definitely need to work on is the service and the timing of the plating. We had our salads delivered after our entrees, our dessert served when we were only half way through our dinners and not even close to ready for them. If they can do a better job with employee training especially on timing of a meal, this place should be very successful. Make sure your kitchen learns how long to cook pasta for. Easy mistake to fix.

This place has great potential, menu is fun and interesting, food is tasty. Our server was working hard to please, but the restaurant is still working out some overall service issues.

Pleasantly surprised at the wide choices available on the menu. Booth very comfortable. Large dining area and several smaller private rooms for private parties. Wait staff very accommodating with my change requests. Food high quality and healthy portion size. I'll be going back on Tuesdays when it's half-price bottle of wine night! Overall a much needed addition to the Bayshore Mall and the east-side restaurant scene!

Mallards has great potential but still getting the kinks out as they open. The food was good, with a nice variety and some interesting combinations. Everything reasonably priced and nice size portions. Some challengies with coordinating the kitchen and timeliness of service. I think they'll be a great addition to the dining options in the area as they work through the details. Looking forward to going again!

The server was attentive however one of four meals came out about 20 minutes after ordering while the other three meals came out another 15 minutes later. This issue needs to be resolved if the restaurant is to be successful.

My wife & I went to Mallards Grand Opening. The “Grand Opening” was lackluster. You wouldn’t have known it was this special event. No signage or decorations. I guess instead of a fancy celebration for their opening they did donate 50% of the days proceeds to a local charity, which was nice. They did have a group playing live music in the bar area which was also nice. We were promptly greeted and seated by the hostess. Soon our Server came to our table to take our order. We both ordered ice tea, which was fine. We also ordered coconut shrimp as an appetizer. The 6 shrimp were a larger size than expected and came with a spicy sweet chili sauce. We also ordered a smash burger and crispy lemon chicken dinner that we both split. We upgraded to a caesar salad side for $6. We requested that it to come out before the entrees. It was a huge portion, a meal in itself. The croutons were excellent but there was way too much dressing on the salad. The taste of the dressing was decent. The smash burger was nothing special, not bad and not exceptional, a little on the salty side. The crispy chicken was a small portion for an entree and its price but did have a very good taste as well as the side of garlic mashed potatoes. In addition, I ordered the cajun fries as a side with the smash burger. They were not that spicy for being cajun, but like almost everything we tried just ok. The food items we tried overall were average. Nothing stood out as WOW and nothing was bad. The best part of our experience was our Server. Unfortunately I didn’t hear his name when he told us it, but he did an excellent job. He was very attentive and personable. We plan to come back and give their Sunday Brunch a try.

Overall, horrible. I understand the restaurant is still new and the staff is still training, however, there’s absolutely no way they should’ve opened this early Every table that I could see, or all complaining to their servers about the extended wait times. We sat down at around 6:55pm with a reservation, and took nearly 50 minutes before we received our appetizers, which weren’t cold, but weren’t fresh out of the kitchen. The crab cakes were fairly decent, and the meatballs were better than expected. We then ordered our entrees, which would take nearly another hour, and in the same timeframe, we weren’t able to receive the service from bar either. We had extended wait times for just a glass of wine. Once we received our entries, one of the dishes, the burger, had to be immediately sent back, due to being incredibly over salted and inedible. The shrimp and grits had a good flavor, and arrived hot and fresh, but again, very heavy on the salt. My father-in-law also had an overly salty meal, which was the jambalaya, which had very little meat, and was mostly peppers and rice. However, they had a great taste, except for the salt. The white staff, was very friendly, but you could tell that all of them were very disappointed. In the fact that the kitchen staff does not have their act, right. There was no management present, there was nobody apologizing for the poor service. There was no one checking in on us. Other than the servers. my biggest piece of advice, is that the owner of this establishment needs to be present in on the floor. There was no control, no communication, and no quality of the flow of the food, nor of the servers. Please close the restaurant until you’re ready and capable.
