Mary’s isn’t simply the greatest feed in your postcode. It’s a cultural icon. Your neighbourhood staple. The big bad burger bar that saved Sydney from itself. Splatter by splatter. Sud by sud. Short menu, loud music and plenty of booze is the recipe from which Mary’s continues to grow.

We exist solely for good food, good drinks and Fucking good times. None of the shit stuff. One big fucked-up family. With an open-door policy that lays out a welcome mat for the local wasters, waifs, and weirdos. Open all hours. To all persuasions. For all occasions.

But we do a shitload more than that. We’re scene setters. Game changers. Lords of culture. Genre hoppers. Venue builders. Art ambassadors. Musical mavens. Disciples to the lost art of a big fucking night out.

Even though it was busy. Staff were friendly, service was fast, happy hour was a bonus, I ordered from the app and even with all my food allergies, I had no issues. Excellent all round. Only wish you did smaller serves, so next time I won't have breakfast.

The beef burger was excellent, the chicken nuggets not so good and the Whiskey Sour okay. It gets busy when there are shows on at the Hordern, booking online is recommended. The bathroom gives dive bar vibes and it is somewhat the aesthetic of Mary’s but it definitely needed a good clean.

Great beer (Mary’s Lager), Burgers were great and the atmosphere was very good but the stand out for me and my guests were how happy and accommodating the staff were. A great night!

cheeseburger was average chips under seasoned - no salt on the table to attend to own seasoning potato & gravy came with 1 bamboo spoon for table of 3 people. restaurant was very dark only ordering via the QR code - no other option or bar service to order different drinks.

Traditionally have loved Mary’s but this trip it was just a bit of a disappointment! No vibe, toilets totally rank burgers ok. Would hesitate to come back to entertainment quarter venue!

Being such an awful night, weather wise, I was glad I booked inside. Food always good & hearty. Warm & dry inside.

Place is pretty average. No table service, it’s order from the bar with the long line or bloody QR code, which I DESPISE. Out of certain beer, out of certain menu items, long wait for bar service. Plus the food was ok, but I’ve had much better burgers. Would only recommend if you’re going to a gig at the Horden and NEED to eat something beforehand.

It was nice to visit Mary’s when it wasn’t absolutely heaving for once. The lovely staff were great, not being ran off their feet clearly allows them to enjoy their job and engage with customers a lot more. Cheeseburgers were delicious, as always, as were the cocktails. Had a great time 👍👍
