Made reservations a month out I only go to Mastros for special occasions (birthdays, anniversary, valentines etc.) I’ve been to almost every Mastros location this was my first time at the San Francisco location and it was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at a fine dining Restraunt I understand that it is all star weekend however I did make reservations a month out and showed up 45 minutes early did not get sat until 2:30 hours later then had to wait another 45-1 hour for food server was understanding and gave us some drinks and desert on the house but it did not make up for my horrible experience completely ruined my valentines with my wife. I ordered a steak medium came out rare didn’t even want to send it back and wait another hour. Location was under staffed and not trained properly. Hostess sent me to 3rd floor to get sat then back down to the second and made me carry my own drinks that I was having at the bar.

Horrible experience. I booked a month in advance to avoid missing out on a reservation and i come to find out they over booked and allowed extra reservation for the same times. We arrived at 9:25pm for our 9:30pm reservation and the lobby was packed. We didnt get to sit down till 10:45ish pm and we didnt get our our food till 12:05am. And even then they ran out of 2/4 things we ordered and they didn’t even tell us they ran out until we finished the first dish. The staff and service was good they were patient but all blame goes on management for the poor coordination and ruining our valentines day.

Absolutely will never eat at this place again. Had a reservation at 8:30, didn’t sit down until 10:30. Manager ignored us then wanted to come back almost 45 mins later. I really felt bad for the ladies in the front who worked so hard to keep everyone calm while the managers wasn’t trying to help. Ladies in the front were getting yelled at by so many angry people. Glad we were able to finally sit down and try to enjoy the rest of our valentine’s day but i will not be back

How do you make a reservation for 8:30 and don’t get seated for an hour!? Ridiculous!

I understand the mixed reviews after my dining experience. This place is over priced and everything took incredibly long. We sat after a host messed up our reservation close to 30 mins after our reservation. When we finally sat, the serve came about 10 mins later and took our drink order and we PURCHASED the bread serve and that then took about 10-15 mins. the server came back about 10 mins later and I’m finally took the order. Took almost 30 mins to give our order to the server AFTER we sat down. the food then took about 30+ mins for a medium rare steak and mushrooms only for the mushrooms to be cold and to be somewhere between medium rare through medium well throughout the steak. the server was friendly however he didn’t check back or anything. We made a passing server aware of the mushrooms and he instructed us to wait for the server. So we ate the steak to almost completion before he came back to take the mushrooms. He offered new ones but the steak was done. We were incredibly excited for butter cake and that took 30 mins to come out. Spending almost 3 hours in a restaurant is actually insane. The manager and server were somewhat empathetic but the entire restaurant and staff seemed completely overwhelmed. I don’t know if it was a bad night or if this common but the reviews suggest this happens as frequently as it doesn’t and that’s what made skeptic. I hope anyone that goes has a better experience than we did .

We had a hard time finding the place and called Mastro’s. They were very rude when we asked for directions. They said, “Everyone else was able to find it.” and hung up on us. We eventually found it and then waited over 45 minutes for our table. We had reservations! Then we get seated and find our table was dirty and appeared to not have been bused by the workers. We brought it to the attention of the manager (Brian) who sat us in a different spot (better table). He made sure our experience was turned around by serving us champagne throughout our meal. In addition, our server (Joe) was attentive but I felt he what a lot of tables to serve. On a night like that you would assume staffing would be up to par but not so. It wasn’t Joe’s fault. Overall, we had a good dinner. The crab cakes are a must! The location is not the best and why we would probably not go back. Thank you Brian and Joe for your service and attention to us. Much appreciated

We love dining at Mastro’s, but this Valentine’s Day was a letdown. Wait times were excessive. When seated, we waited 20 minutes for menus, over 30 minutes to order, and up to 60 minutes for drinks, bread, and food. Many tables around us faced the same delays, and frustration grew as popular menu items, like lobster mac and cheese, were sold out. For a $300+ dinner, we expect a smooth, well-prepared experience. Mastro’s needs better planning to accommodate high-traffic nights and ensure guests can enjoy their meals without long delays and missing menu items.

If you are looking for a romantic place to dine… DO NOT COME HERE!!!! We went for Valentine’s Dinner on Thursday the 13th. We made a reservation many days ahead when we arrived. We waited for 15 to 20 minutes before getting taken to our table. We were placed between two large parties, both appeared to be a boys night out! Both groups were extremely loud there was no music playing just loud people laughing around us. Not at all what I wanted for my Valentine’s Day dinner. We ended up, leaving without even having dinner here ! Terrible experience don’t come here if you are looking for a nice romantic evening out in the city.

Great quality food and amazing drinks. Music was rather loud and waiter was seated several tables at once so he was struggling at first but stepped it up.
