   Our visit to Matera was very pleasant from the greeting by the friendly Hostess to the great Waiter who was perfectly attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was nice and probably a little more quiet for our after 8 pm reservation. I would say that the food was very well presented. For starters, the Salad was elegant and generous, the Filet Mignon was cooked correctly but was the only disappointment as it was a lower grade than I would expect. The Tiramisu was exceptional and maybe one the best I've had. I recommend Matera and will come back to try the regular menu.

   We had another great meal at Matera. I had the Herb Chicken and it was delicious. My husband had the Meza Rigatoni and he enjoyed it. My son had the Top Sirloin Steak. It was cooked perfectly. As always the service was great.

   Had a party of 9- everyone ordered something different and we all loved our breakfast! The service was great, we loved our waitress! We will be back!

   We are are fortunate to have Matera in our neighborhood, It is a small restaurant in the River Inn, close to the Kennedy Center and the Foggy Bottom-GWU, Metro, with excellent food at reasonable prices and excellent service. The menu leans to Italian cuisine but there are choices for those who prefer "American" food; the NY strip steak is outstanding and the tiramisu is the best we have ever eaten. The wine pours are generous. In our experience, the cooking, service and the wine selection has been pleasingly consistent.

   Delicious food! We were VERY happy with the food choices. Our waiter was friendly and enjoyable. The restaurant is not very big so expect cozy and to possibly hear your neighbors conversation; although everyone seemed very relaxed and cordial.

   We enjoyed a meal here before attending an event at the nearby Kennedy Center. It's a very small restaurant, located within a neighborhood (within a hotel on a residential street, surrounded by row homes). I personally liked the quaint aspect of it. The menu was limited because we were there on a Sunday/Monday (which was a new concept to me, but I get it), but still offered some good variety. We both enjoyed a martini, split an appetizer, and got our own entrees. Prices were as expected for DC, all that worked out to ~$60pp with tax and tip. Service was great, attentive without being "too much". And even though the place was small we were able to have a conversation and not be bothered by others doing the same.

   "Fine" is about all I can say. Wouldn't recommend, wouldn't go back. Tried numerous dishes, just wasn't impressed.

    Highly recommend as a great place to have a nice meal before or after attending a show at the JFK Center for the Performing Arts. Food and Cocktails were excellent.
