Formally named the ‘Belvárosi Kávéház’, Matild Café & Cabaret has a long history, dating back to 1901. The two-storey café was the most popular centre of the vibrant social life of the Belle Epoque era, where prominent public figures, journalists, artists used to meet; and where significant pieces of Hungarian literature was born, like ‘The Adventures of Sindbad’ by Gyula Krúdy, famous Hungarian writer.
Created more than a century ago and restored its rightful grandeur today at its locale under Matild Palace, the iconic heritage and culinary traditions of this famous classic art nouveau café is composing stylish and modern scenes of pleasure over coffee, cakes, bakery, comfort food envisioned by master chef Wolfgang Puck, together with the peerless service for its guest.

Actually was the last day of our trip so we came a bit early so was a bit empty.. but a lovely quintet ( if I am not wrong) with their lovely music received us☺️ All along they played beautiful music 🎶 Not a big choice of food but very tasty. Atilla our server was very friendly. The atmosphere, the decoration and especially the hotel to be seen.
