Un des restaurants les plus réputés de Covent Garden, Maxwell's Bar & Grill a ouvert au début des années 1980 et marche encore fort. Réparti sur deux étages et jouissant d'un emplacement privilégié sur James Street au cœur de Covent Garden, Maxwell sert un menu de classiques de style américain testés et approuvés : des coupes de steaks de première qualité, des hamburgers, des « potato skins », « surf 'n' turf », du poisson frais et des salades légères. Le décor est un clin d'œil à nos amis d'outre-atlantique doté de boxes en cuir moelleux et d'enseignes au néon sur le mur. Le bar à cocktails de Maxwell est un véritable succès grâce aussi à ses barmans qui mélangent une multitude de cocktails classiques.

This was my first ever visit and I was thoroughly impressed. The ambience and atmosphere was great. ALL the staff members were friendly, warm, and accommodating. They were generous with allowing us to be seated earlier than booked, change to a more comfortable table and even when I was not happy with my starter dish, they changed it to a delicious prawn starter without any fuss. The staff were an absolute 10/10 and the atmosphere and restaurant was superb. I loved it and would definitely visit Maxwells again.

Thoroughly recommend Maxwells. Nachos were delicious as were the burger, macaroni cheese, fish n chips znd chicken salad. It was value for money and service was both welcoming and excellent. Thank you.

Perfect service and lovely setting. They noticed my little boy had a sticker on for his 1st birthday and brought out a cake which was a real highlight. Thank you

Grill très sympa et branché ! Un peu bruyant pour parler, mais accueil et service très sympa. L’ambiance est sympa et les plats très bons et copieux. Je recommande et en plus dans un quartier super sympa

We absolutely loved our evening at Maxwells. We had such a fun time. The staff is very friendly, welcoming and attentive. The atmosphere is so positive and exciting. The decor is inviting and colourful. We were sat on the mezzanine which was so great. The food and drinks were so tasty. We thoroughly recommend this restaurant!! We will be there again

First time here, and had a really good meal. Excellent kids menu and loved that they gave them an activity sheet and crayons. Service was very good, and not stupidly expensive but standard London prices. Great atmosphere too! Would definitely recommend

I always try to book Maxwell’s, when I come to Covent Garden. Which isn’t often but I know there is a wide choice of different dishes to suit many tastes. I chose the bbq ribs, fries and coleslaw. They did not disappoint. My 10 year old Grandson chose from the children’s menu and it was plenty for him. He had a delicious cheese and meat burger with fries. Although we felt full, we did manage to squeeze in a dessert of chocolate and vanilla ice cream on a chocolate brownie and I finished with a delicious mango and raspberry sorbet. The waiting staff were very friendly and courteous. It was a pleasure eating there🥰

Our last visit to Maxwell's was distinctly underwhelming and I said so in a review. Maxwell's got in touch, apologised and sent us a £70 voucher as compensation. We used that voucher last night, after booking on 27th December and asking for a table upstairs (which is generally a little quieter and less frenetic than downstairs). We arrived 15 minutes earlier but were told that our table was ready – a good start. We were then taken to a small table for 2 in the crowded rear of the downstairs. I asked if there were no tables upstairs as we had requested, and was told "no". The place was heaving, so clearly they were trying maximise profits by only using booths for 4 (or, in some cases, more...) A pity, then about the table next to us, easily large enough for 4, but occupied by 2 young women eating nothing and downing cocktails like there was no tomorrow. We ordered drinks. I asked for a pint of lime and soda and was presented with a half-pint glass full of ice and then topped up with, around a 1/4 pint of lime and soda , for which I was charged £3.45 - stonkingly outrageous, even for central London. My wife's Fajitas were good, my Baby Back Ribs were OK, but I thought a rather miserly portion for £26+. Sweets were OK, but I still think that serving ice cream in a cold stainless-steel bowl is horrible. Still thirsty, I asked for another lime and soda (we had not yet had the bill, so I had no idea what it cost). It did not arrive until I prompted the waiter again, at which point it did appear - sans lime cordial. By now I was too dispirited even to complain, so we asked for the bill and presented our voucher. We then waited 10-15 minutes for the voucher to be validated and were presented with a bill which constituted primarily the mandatory service charge. (Ironically, this was less than I had planned to give the waiter as a cash payment). I used to love Maxwells in the old days – I guess it's true that you can't go back – so we won't.
