   We have been going to M and S for years . (Since 2007). We are usually very happy with the food, the service and value. However today was not good: first off we made an Open Tsble reservation but had to sit and wait when we arrived, despite a completely empty lobby. We were then led to a table in the bar portion of the restaurant. Not exactly what we had in mind when we booked lunch for 2. The restaurant was maybe 1/4 busy? It was 2pm, way past any lunch rush. Our waitress was sweet but it somehow took her 17 mins to find and bring our water order! (Fancy water. I admit , but come on?!) we were calming eating our clam chowder that was piping hot when she suddenly appeared with our main course of steak and frites! I made a face and she asked what was wrong. I had to explain that bringing the main course while the customer is barely 1/2 way through the appetizer is poor form. She looked startled, clearly not understanding how rude it was to hurry our meal that way. She then offered to « keep our meal under hot lamps », which we refused, as typically French fries don’t particularly improve under lamps. So in the end we ate a rushed soup, took our steak home and left the Fries which were of course cold by the time we finished our soup. It’s bewildering to me that she did not understand how rude it was to rush our food when we were barely eating our appetizer. Isn’t it basic courtesy to let the customer eat their food calmly? To not bring additional courses until at least the 1st course is finished?? It made for an unpleasant experience and we will likely not return there in the future.

   Lovely Saturday early evening dinner. Love the atmosphere, beautiful decor, windows to watch the activity on the Plaza. Food and service was wonderful.

   We had a nice girls lunch. Service was a little slow for not being very busy in my opinion. Food was just ok. I thought the cocktails were overpriced. My seafood pasta dish had scallops and shrimp but each of these were the size of my little finger tip! Almost hard to find in my dish. For 20$ lunch dish I expected some shrimp I could actually see! My cocktail was almost as much as my entree. Anyway, the food was ok, service was ok to slow. Grade this lunch as a C-

   Outstanding experience with courteous, caring wait staff and wonderfully prepared food. The dessert, the chocolate bag, was excellent!

   While M&S has always been a go-to for brunch, I'm afraid this visit was less than stellar. Three factors affect my review. First the environment - the music selection was suitable for a night club or bar and grill, not a sit-down restaurant. Music is meant to add enjoyment and light background to a dining experience. The music playing Sunday did neither. Additionally, our server seemed less than pleased to be there. I realize all of us have bad days. The challenge in a service-based, relationship-driven space is one must find a way to still create an environment of hospitality. I might add, from my observations, we were the only table our server was serving - the restaurant was rather empty with no more than 10 tables occupied. Our server did take our order, bring us our entrees, and the check. Other than that, we never saw them - checking in if the food was prepared well, asking if we needed anything else, or simply to thank us for joining them for brunch. Finally, the food was average to below-average. I was disappointed that the shrimp in my pasta dish were overcooked - rubbery. For me, this was the third strike. I'm sorry M&S, if you wish to maintain your reputation you need to decide who you want to be and create that space. You have a beautiful space and location. Don't waste it.

    Our experience was absolutely fantastic. Our server Jenn went above and beyond to make sure our dinner at the restaurant was super enjoyable. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and we received 1st class treatment.
