McMenamins Elks Temple Pub serves classic Northwest fare in a room with a view. You can’t help but gaze through the soaring windows toward Foss Waterway, but be sure to look up, too, for a fantastic display of chandeliers. From early breakfasts to late night cocktails, the pub is open to all ages serving breakfast classics like benedicts and scrambles, and for dinner elevated burgers and pizzas with an ever changing seasonal menu inspired by the Pacific Northwest.

Such a beautiful place with the decor and all.the different chandiers. We were seated in front of a window overlooking the water. The waitress was very friendly and helpful although it took a while for her to get back to us. The food was excellent! I had the red rabbit wine over steak. Very good! Such a nice place to celebrate Valentines day.

We have had dinner at this location several times. Every time the food is excellent. The service is quality and the drinks are exceptional. We were accommodated to sit near the windows overlooking the water, even though we weren’t originally sat in that location. That was appreciated!

At our 5:00 pm reservation, the hostess left to see what table she had for us and never came back. After 10 minutes I asked her colleague, who escorted us to our table. We waited approximately 20 minutes until someone came to take our drink order. They seemed short-staffed for a Saturday evening. A shame, as this was our first visit to the establishment.

McMenamins Elk Temple has its charms. The food was good, and the drinks, especially those from the Vault, were excellent. However, the service left room for improvement. Our reservation wasn’t ready on time, and the initial seating miscommunication was frustrating. That said, the final table with a view of the Port of Tacoma redeemed the experience. While I love the history and ambiance of the Elk Temple, better coordination would make visits more enjoyable.

Our only complaint was the rooms, hallways, and bars were very warm to us. Felt like we were always sweating.

Unfortunately the Pub food quality is basically glorified bar food. My Caesar salad was dry and had some wilted lettuce on it with no dressing. I had to ask for it. The Diablo wasn't even slightly spicy. My wife has experienced 2 very dry hamburgers there. So much potential of elevating to a classy place but it remains as bad food only. . Waiter was awesome! He was friendly, joked with us and pleasant. Atmosphere is awesome! Just seriously needs a food quality upgrade!!

We went to McMinnamin's for the architecture, but found the menu offered a wide variety of upscale pub food, with something for everyone. I enjoyed a flight of hard ciders, all of which were delicious, and we shared the pretzel sticks and seared ahi appetizers to start; both were tasty and portion sizes were perfect for sharing between the two of us. Our server was attentive and helpful in making dinner choices and our food was good, but not amazing . . . I had the wild mushroom pizza with a crust that seemed underdone and goat cheese that was dry and crumbly, rather than creamy, more like feta. I don't think I'd order another pizza, but there's lots more on the menu to choose from. My hubby's burger was good-sized and looked delicious, his report was that it was a "decent" burger. The dining area is very large but feels intimate because it is set up in smaller, more private rooms and areas, and the stained glass, light fixtures and soaring ceilings kept our attention. It's worth seeing this beautiful structure and the care that went into restoring at least once, but I also think it's a great spot for bringing a group of friends to enjoy the billiards room and other tucked-away bars in the building. It truly is an amazing experience to visit this establishment, whether for drinks and happy hour or to eat a simple meal and enjoy company and the surroundings.
