    Food was overpriced and didn’t meet expectations. The deviled eggs and wedge salad were great but the waiter recommended beef Wellington for $78 tasted bland and the halibut cheeks for $70 were overcooked, dry and tasted like previously frozen food.

    The restaurant and bar itself is gorgeous and the staff is lovely. The food was subpar - two of our 4 entrees had to be sent back to the kitchen and the remaining, while edible, were not good at all. Considering the bill for our group of 4 was $800, one would expect the food to be of that caliber.

    It had been two years since I’d eaten at Melvyn’s. The pricing was too high. Small filet at $56, with additional $18 for any sauce, plus additional dollars for bread and additional dollars for any sides … seemed excessive. Add in you had to pay Valet up front and then felt obligated to tip when leaving with your car. About $140 a person, no desert; one glass of wine.

    The food was mediocre at best. The Chilean sea bass was as very fishy. Bottom line we were extremely disappointed and won’t be back.

    Every time I am in Palm Springs, I make a reservation for Melvyn’s. The staff is loyal and experience. The food is very good. The nostalgic ambiance is so Palm Springs from days gone by!
