Das Merchants River House hat unseren Silvesterabend gerettet. Wir bekamen am berühmten Times Square keinen Zugang mehr und alles schien ins Wasser zu fallen. Also habe ich bei OpenTable nach Restaurants am Hudson gesucht, die noch Tische frei haben und hab das Merchants gefunden. Es war ein wunderschöner Abend, mit sehr leckerem Essen und freundlichen Service. Eine absolute Empfehlung. Im Restaurant wie in den Iglus außen kann man beim Essen auf den Hudson River schauen, was gerade nachts eine sehr schöne Atmosphäre zaubert. Wir kommen gern irgendwann wieder.

Maybe our expectations are different being from the South but one would think that a table would be checked on at least once after drinks and food have been served. The restaurant was not busy at our arrival and we were promptly sat. We were given the brunch menu and sticker shock went into affect. I ordered the eggs with home fries and a side of bacon. The eggs were cooked very well but the bacon was over cooked. My wife and son split the fish and chips. It was two pieces of fried cod and some fries. They say it was good. My daughter had the fried chicken sandwich. She said it was good. Nothing was bad but for the price it could have been better. The restaurant offers great views as it faces directly across the river into Jersey. If knowing I had friends in the area visiting I would suggest them thinking about trying however I don't think we would return.

Not thrilled with our first experience there. We went relatively early for happy hour. The tequila soda that I ordered was way too strong so I had to send it back and then the drink I got back was vodka (???). Didn’t want to send it back again so I just dealt with it. Then, I asked if we could get spinach & artichoke dip but with tortilla chips instead of the pita chips since my SO has a gluten allergy. The server responded by saying no, that they couldn’t substitute and that the kitchen doesn’t even have those available. I was confused because chips & guac are also on the HH menu and I assumed it would be an easy substitution. A few minutes later, after we told the server that we wouldn’t be getting food since we couldn’t make the substitution, I see the kitchen eating nachos with tortilla chips???? I was so confused and a little upset because I thought they weren’t available. Anyway, a bit disappointed because this was our first time and we were excited to have a place this close to our building.

Merchants has been and remains one of my favorite restaurants. Staff consistently accommodating and kind, as is the view (one of my favorite sunset spots). The food , cocktails and wine are relatively straightforward and delicious. I go here for special occasions and “just because “, as the experience has you feel like it’s a special occasion. They also have a few clear heated tents outside which looked magical.

Overpriced food. Also why would you cut my steak for me?! Ruined it. Server barely checked on us. Would have had more to drink but I could see her hanging out by the bar. Won’t be back.

This is our favorite restaurant in Manhattan. Every time we visit NYC, we go to Merchants Riverhouse, because it’s a cozy and beautiful place with great service and very good quality food. The view to Jersey city across the Hudson River is beautiful and also our favorite view, especially at sundown! Thank you! Marina

Made a reservation to dine outdoors. Really, it's an indoor greenhouse, but it was a quiet night and my friend and I were the only ones in there. I worried we would be forgotten, but that was not the case. The wait staff was attentive throughout, even though we were the only ones out there. The food was delicious. We split two appetizers and an entrée and frankly, overate. It's a lovely spot with a river view, though it's partially obscured from the greenhouse. I highly recommend the avocado fries!

Merchants River House probably has the best view of the Hudson River available from any Manhattan restaurant. It’s fun to watch the river traffic, including the occasional cruise ship going by. They open at 4 p.m. and don’t generally don’t get crowded until much later.
