Originally opened in 2012 on Roger Williams in Ravinia, Merlo's Italian Restaurant is BACK! Now situated on bustling Vernon Avenue in the heart of Glencoe, this family owned restaurant has the same traditional Italian style dishes & vibe you remember in a new and exciting location of our home town.

Come in and enjoy the warm atmosphere as a family, a couple or with friends. Our menu features all of your classic favorites, some contemporary additions, daily fish specials, as well as delicious salads, vegetarian & gluten free options and as always, crowd pleasing desserts. Our food was delicious. Our server was very good. The noise level was way too high. Music to loud. Otherwise very good.

This wasn’t what I was expecting. I ordered fish and it was served on the cool side. Not at all warm even. My daughter got the steak; eh…nothing to brag about. She definitely didn’t like the fries; me either. So the service and presentation was top notch; food not so much. Sorry but that’s how we feel.

We ordered the salmon piccata, the whitefish Vesuvio, the grilled salmon, and the eggplant Parmesan. We all enjoyed our entrees, along with the grilled veggies! When we first went in, they seemed to be a bit shorthanded. Our waiter was great describing menu items, but seemed to have a lot of tables to attend to. Had a nice Italian red wine which he mentioned was back in stock. Overall we enjoyed it. The only complaint we had was that the music in the background was too loud.

First time dining here but won’t be our last. Cozy warm spot with great atmosphere and lively crowds. No wait for our reservation. Server very helpful and made great recommendations. Cocktails and wine top notch. Calamari very good. Calabrese Chop filled the platter. All dinners were great portions and delicious. Too full for dessert.

Merlos hasn’t disappointed me yet. I rarely eat meat, but tried the skirt steak. It was delicious. (Be careful if you’re sensitive to spicy). Two of us shared a few dishes, including the caprese salad. It usually has 3 sections, but they gave us each 2. We had fried calamari- very large portion and perfectly prepared.
