Mermaid Oyster Bar is a family of casually sophisticated seafood restaurants born in New York in 2003.

Starting out in Manhattan’s East Village as a spot-on rendition of a casual New England fish shack, The Mermaid Inn has morphed into an American seafood brasserie, replete with style, hospitality and a menu marked by bold and seasonally inspired cuisine. The Mermaid Inn has been designed to evoke the feeling of being on a mini vacation in a small seaside village.

This has become our go to follow on spot after Town Hall events. The Happy Hour menu is a good value, especially in the area. For a full house, it is wonderful that conversation does not mean shouting across the table to be heard. We regularly order the spinach artichoke dip (ask for sliced bread instead of the crackers), calimari, fish tacos and clam chowder shooters for the table. Our server yesterday is the best we have had--- ask to be seated in Jonathan's section! We will be back.

Unfortunately, mermaid seems to have gone downhill-they used to have a very nice happy hour and dinner menu also. The food came out cold and the service was slow very sad-since it’s a good location by Times Square.

We had a lovely happy hour here after seeing &Juliet. The food was excellent, the cocktails were delicious and our server was so kind and attentive, as was the manager, Toni. What a gem in the sea of chains and fast food. We will definitely be back!

We have a wonderful dining experience. Our main courses and appetizers were excellent but my wife was not wowed by salmon tartar and the key lime tart was not up to par this evening. My main Cod dish was off the charts excellent. Great portion with many mussels and chorizo broth. We will go back and I’d highly recomend it.

The Raw bar cheff was awesome!! Carlos, our waiter, was nice service, but the signature date drinks were crap.

My husband and I shared spare ribs, wedge salad, the medium size seafood tower and the Parker House rolls. All of it was delicious, although the ribs were pretty fatty. Our server was awesome and she even let us know when she was leaving and introduced us to the server that took her place, who was great too. For NYC, the price of our meal was good, given how outstanding the food was.

Love this spot! More familiar with the other locations in the city, but there’s no better place to take out-of-towners or show-goers in midtown! If you like seafood and great cocktails, you can’t beat it!

Excellent lobster roll. Probably the most lobster meat I've ever had in a lobster roll. And, my friend's lobster smoked gouda mac and cheese was also fantastic. I was almost jealous.
