The Merrijig Kitchen is housed in the historic Merrijig Inn {1842), known as Victoria's oldest Inn. Situated across from the Port Fairy wharf, in the heart of gorgeous Port Fairy.
We are HIGH on atmosphere and write our menu daily, after Tanya chats with our fish monger, veggie growers, local butcher and any of our wonderful local gardeners who may pop in with their backgarden produce.
We spend a lot of time on our drinks program, offering our local Henty wine region producers, smattered between regional and international producers adhering to organic and biodynamic practises.
We love a bespoke cocktail, which we make inspired by our garden and of course, offer local artisan beer on tap.
Pop in, we'd love to see you whilst you are enjoying Port Fairy!

Merijig is a fantastic dinning experience, we began our night with drinks in the garden looking out over the Moyne at dusk. Staff welcome you to their dinning room with escorted seating to a beautifully furnished room that while seating numerous guest the room gives you an intimate experience. The old worldly and beautiful crafted furniture builds on the charm of this old building. The food is an experience to remember from the complementary warmed infused tea to the delicious thought out meals, this is where food is left to shine and complemented with subtle flavours. Rarely do we have dessert, but we would encourage you not to miss out. The hand made oatcakes and lavosh with cheese were delicious, we also shared a fantastic Stone Fruit and Brown Butter Tart with Schulz Cream. The use of hand made plates and vessels is impressive and the attention to wine class use for the well stocked wine list adds to the dinning experience. Merijig staff are craftsman of hospitality, if you're visiting Port Fairy book ahead you will remember the experience as fondly as we do.

We thoroughly enjoyed or stay at the Merrijig Inn. All the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was excellent with a period feel to it and the dinner in the evening was exceptional. The breakfast was also very good. Our only regret is that we only stayed one night!

Have only had drinks / dessert here previously, but I was excited to try the food. Sadly it was hit and miss… but more miss TBH. Wanted to love this place, but the food was overpriced and underwhelming. Paid $49 for an overcooked piece of fish with soggy skin and a seaweed decoration that served no purpose being on the plate. Thought it was funny they make a point of saying not to eat it 🤪 Potato salad was a few uninspiring boiled spuds rolled in a few herbs… meh 😒 $41 for a zucchini pasta was also highway robbery, and it was really nothing exciting. Pavlova I had here previously was so much better. This one lacked any chewy moreishness… just super dry and chalky, and cream was far too light on. Pretentious and unsatisfying… not for me.
