   A friend took me there earlier tonight for my birthday. We got there during happy hour and were pleasantly surprised by the prices and number of items on the happy hour menu. It ends at 5:30 and lots of places end it at 5 so we started out with a good impression. She got the Kailua pig quesadillas and I got fish and chips. She ordered the green beans as well. Everything was delicious! Our waiter was friendly and was very familiar with the food and drinks on the menu. My cocktail was called something crush. Yummy! Overall a really great experience.

   We had an incredible Christmas dinner last night! Our waiter was excellent. We had been in Hawaii for 12 days and this was by far the best mahi I had. The tako on country bread was amazing! Thanks for making our Xmas dinner so special.

   Was expecting a wonderful Christmas dinner with family. They offered a prix fixe menu. Two of our party wanted the filet, it was only 7pm and they said they may be out and need to substitute. They substituted for a fatty thin tough New York strip. It was not comparable to what we ordered. When I spoke to the manager, he said he would take it off the bill. Clearly this manager doesn’t understand. There was no amount of money to make up for a ruined Xmas dinner. And the server stopped waiting on us, never offered us coffee or anything to go with our desserts. I’ve been going to merriman’s for many years. Always a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. Never again.

   Very expensive price fix Christmas meal. We were seated 30 past our reservation time. Our order was taken immediately and Leek soup severed immediately drinks came quickly. Now it gets bad!! 30 minutes before our second course was served and we never saw our waiter!! 40 minutes later for our main course!!!! My fish came out COLD!!!! My husband had to get up and talk with a manager because we couldn’t find our waiter !! We were at this restaurant for close to 3 hours!! 2 people! So bad!!

   We were extremely disappointed that the prefix Christmas menu published on the Merriman’s Honolulu website did NOT the menu offered. Many in my dinner party were expecting to have the Duck L’orange entrée as well as the chocolate purse, both of which were not offered on the actual menu. For a restaurant to publish a set prefix menu for $125 per person. I would expect the online menu to match what is actually offered and if not updated expediently. While I mentioned this issue to the waiter he offered a mild apology, so we were stuck with the menu in the restaurant. I don’t blame the waiter and didn’t want to note the discrepancy with him as it is the chef and owners responsibility to make sure what they post online is accurate for such an event.
