   Was Saturday evening 12/21/24. Think waiter was a trainee because he never said much. Took forever to get drinks & then another forever for the food. The scallops appetizer was under cooked. Center was raw. What really angers me was that my friend gave the waiter her credit card. The waiter brought the bill & my friend signed it. Found out Sunday at checkout that the waiter had put the dinner on my room tab, which was held by my credit card. That makes no sense, in fact it is scary. It is such a nice hotel to have such a mediocre restaurant.

   Great atmosphere. Food is very good, with reasonable to generous portions. Service is good and consistent, allowing a leisurely paced dinner. Just not the place for a quick meal, but that does not prevent us from going and enjoying the restaurant.

   Lovely area and food was great. There was an overwhelming perfume smell in there that made it hard to enjoy the dining experience. I’ve been there many times before and not smelled that, so I’m not sure what happened.

   This was the second time I treated my staff to the Monarch for Christmas, and we all enjoy the great food and gorgeous Christmas Decorations. Thank you for providing such a great atmosphere and dining experience for us!

   Overall nice experience. Food is varied and anyone should be able to find something they like. Service was not what I’d have expected. Just not really sure if they were too thin or what. Attention was lacking. Slow clearings and refills.

   We loved the make your own pasta station and the seafood buffet. Only negative is I felt like we were waiting on the server a lot for refills

   Celebrating our granddaughter’s birthday! She loves Galveston and the Galvez. She’s 7 lol. We had a wonderful experience! Will definitely indulge again!

    Would not recommend. When we walked in we noticed quite a few tables were leaving their food untouched and quickly found out why. The food was generally not good. My husband's steak was not medium rare. The waiter didn’t know what oysters Galvez was. My snapper was supposed to have sump cramp meat on it, but only had a few shreds and some tiny boiled shrimp. A few steamed green beans and parboiled rice. It was not good. The lighting is weirdly like a cafeteria and they are pumping way too much of their hotel scent into the restaurant area. At the end of our meal we had to chase down someone to pay the bill. We stay almost exclusively at Bonvoy hotels and are usually very happy with the restaurants, but we will not be staying at this hotel again
