Moonstone Grill, a Trinidadian mainstay, serves fresh seafood and other classic American eats in its beautiful, beachside location. For starters, plates like the crab cakes with sriracha aioli and the lobster wontons with garlic cream make you realize how Moonstone Grill appreciates and respects the local produce and catch. Popular entrée items include the grilled angus ribeye with gorgonzola compound butter, the oven roasted game hen with mushrooms and the wild Alaskan halibut with curry pearl pasta. We were hoping for a better experience due to 4.3 ratings but we were disappointed. The whole menu is overpriced for the quantity and quality of the food. My appetizer crab cakes were bland and mushy, probably the worst I've ever been served, but my friend's bowl of steamer clams was more appalling. The clams were about the size of small green peas. If the chef had not been able to source reasonable steamer clams, he should have taken them off the menu. And don't even get me started on the selections of wine by the glass, which were quite limited and pricey. The manager probably realized we weren't happy because he didn't even bother to come by and ask how our meal was. When we find ourselves in the Trinidad area again, we will definitely dine elsewhere.

Meh food. Overpriced. You have to pay $12 for bread. Music in dire need of updating. Bland ambiance. No vibe. Won’t be back. 🤷‍♀️

An amazing location right on the crashing waves in Moonstone north of Trinidad. Nice menu and a friendly atmosphere.

Moonstone is our favorite restaurant in Humboldt County. We visit this area quite often and we make sure always to eat here. The food has never disappointed us. The service is alway excellent and the servers are always friendly. We always look for ward to our visit to Moonstone Grill.

The food, service and view were all outstanding. We ordered all small plates, a bottle of Pinot Noir and dessert. The prawns were especially good!

Food was superb. Watched the sunset over the ocean during the meal. Service was excellent, Will dine there again.

We dined here for our anniversary dinner on 10/21/24, having booked a few weeks ago. Lovely location by the beach with beautiful scenery, as the sun was setting during our wait. We arrived 20 minutes early for our 7:00 reservation. As we were waiting, two servers were kind to tell us that we'd be seated soon. Within 5 minutes, we were greeted by a very nice young lady who immediately seated us. Because the temp was in the 50s, it was chilly in the restaurant and had to wear our coats to warm up. Somewhere along the way, the door was finally closed. The restaurant is small and quaint, and you can dress casually or dress up. My husband wore jeans and a nice polo shirt. Our food and drink order was taken by Naarah, who was nice and cordial. We were aware of the high prices, but the food did not disappoint. Everything from the appetizer (coconut prawns) to the entree (filet mignon/salad/clam chowder/potatoes) to the dessert (creme brulee), was perfect, and on time. The filet was cooked medium rare as we normally order and was absolute perfection for both of our meals. The ONLY downside was that the bar doesn't serve blended drinks, but my moscato was delicious! Even with 3 glasses of wine, and and an after-dinner expresso added, we paid $340 with the tip, but it was our time to celebrate as we normally do with a very pricey dinner each year. As we were leaving, we were congratulated on our event by the staff. The menu is available online, so view it before coming so you're not shocked by the prices. The scenery of the ocean also gives a great experience. We will be back again next year!!

Food was mediocre NY steak overcooked… did not look like NY, mashed potatoes were so salty they were inedible. Told the waiter and he came back a said sorry. But that was it. Not impressed, but the server was efficient and pleasant.

The fish and chips are good. Grilled octopus was overcooked. I got great service though, and the view was amazing.
