Moro restaurant in London’s Exmouth Market may retain its reputation as one of the hippest restaurants in one of the hippest parts of the capital, but this Clerkenwell restaurant still focuses more on good food than its own image. Moro’s décor with its polished wooden floors, long zinc bar, open view to the kitchen and its charcoal grill and wood-burning oven, is functional and welcoming. Cuisine of the southern Mediterranean, from the Iberian Peninsula into Northern Africa, is the menu’s exclusive province.

    Second visit within one month and did not disappoint Excellent selection of dishes, all flavoursome and well presented We ate late (10.15 table booking) and staff very patient and accommodating - did not feel pressured to leave.

    It’s been a while since we came away from a restaurant having not felt disappointed. But Moro lived up to what we have experienced in the past. It’s a little pricey but I’d rather pay a bit more and come away feeling that the food and drink were great which they were. Tasty ceviche with a fino sherry followed by Wood Roasted Pork finished off with the staple Malaga Raisin ice cream accompanied by Don Ximenez sherry. Good to know some things don’t change

    Delicious food, flavoursome interesting and moreish (no pun intended). Long standing establishment, one of the rare vestiges of its time still delivering on the money, does what it says on the tin. Very well made martinis and good wines accompanied (amongst other things) quail, grilled lamb and roasted duck followed by a surprisingly delicious - or as my girlfriend's formidable tastemaker of a father, a man who doesn't pull his punches and knows his way around a menu described as perfectly awful cardamom and rosewater ice cream. Great vibe and service also must be noted. Restored some faith in London dining. Highly recommend!

    A typically excellent meal from Moro. The seasonal Chestnut Soup and Sherry Triffle are worth waiting for.
