Moro restaurant in London’s Exmouth Market may retain its reputation as one of the hippest restaurants in one of the hippest parts of the capital, but this Clerkenwell restaurant still focuses more on good food than its own image. Moro’s décor with its polished wooden floors, long zinc bar, open view to the kitchen and its charcoal grill and wood-burning oven, is functional and welcoming. Cuisine of the southern Mediterranean, from the Iberian Peninsula into Northern Africa, is the menu’s exclusive province.

I have dined at Moro with friends and family over many years and very much enjoyed the food. Yesterday’s dinner was unusual in being disappointing, in particular the lamb was tough and the dish as a whole dry. I did raise this with the waitress and manager and to be fair they did remove the charge for my main course.

We always choose to eat at Moro before going to Saddlers Wells. The tapas at the counter is delicious and just what we look for. The main menu is also excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful and it really feels like home. We would recommend it to anyone.

Very welcoming on this and our previous visit. We were going on to Sadlers Wells and they managed the timing of our meal perfectly. A minor dietary requirement was smilingly and imaginatively resolved. Recommended.

Food and service very good but noise level high ( I’m not deaf!), and it was very difficult to talk to our companions. Acoustics are not good. Also we were positioned opposite entrance so people had to go past us entering and exiting with not much room to spare. I gather a weekday night might be better but we don’t live in London.

Prijzig, maar wát óntzettend lékker!! Sobere presentatie, cocktails in een eenvoudig wijnglas, simpel wit servies. Geen getut met druppeltjes, poedertjes en schuimpjes, maar alle focus op hele hoge kwaliteit ingrediënten, geweldige smaakcombinaties en perfecte bereiding. De sherry- en wijnpairings waren puur en spot on. Absolute aanrader!

Food was fine (not remarkable) but evening was spoiled by being asked to vacate our table after 1hr 45mins. Didn't know there was a time limit (no doubt will be in the small print somewhere) but a reminder on arrival would have been helpful. Disappointing Valentine's evening.
