A Family Tradition For Over 90 Years

Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant first opened in 1934 with Mrs. Knott and her children serving the first customers in their tea room. The restaurant has grown over the years into one of the largest in California, but the classic fried chicken dinner is still made the same way today using Mrs. Knott's recipes.

Every complete chicken dinner includes handmade biscuits, side salad, choice of cabbage or cherry rhubarb, three pieces of fried chicken, and mashed potatoes smothered in gravy. For dessert: your choice of boysenberry pie or boysenberry sherbet. Many other dishes are also available including grilled chicken, salads, and a number of appetizers. A full-service bar, serving signature boysenberry-infused cocktails, is also available.

Currently, we are following all government-issued regulations and seating is currently outside only. Thank you in advance for understanding and we are in this together.

    Restaurant was cute. Kids thought the chandeliers were funny. You received a lot of food for a good price. The food wasn’t that great though. They did have really good fries and jam. The mashed potatoes and chicken tenders were good. But everything else we ordered was mid. The water was really gross and tasted like chlorine. Kids said the lemonade was gross too. I would skip the restaurant next time and just order something from the chicken to go. Server was nice.

    There was good portions and the biscuits, soup, and fried chicken all of which tasted great. The chicken pot pie was excellent. The rhubarb was slightly undercooked and need a few extra minutes but still tasted good. Overall a little pricey but still a good value for taste. Server was polite and saw we had everything we needed.

    We were seated immediately. Our waiter was prompt and very personable. His name was Don! Portions are generous.

    We love Mrs. Knots Chicken Dinner Restaurant. Due to all the hustle and bustle holiday traffic; my husband and I, have made this our annual go to spot before Thanksgiving tradition.

    We traveled from San Antonio and Corpus Christi Texas so Mom could have Mrs. Knott's chicken dinner. This is what Mom asked for her 90th birthday dinner...how could we refuse? It was as delicious as she remembered from her last visit over 25 years ago. We are so full...we have leftover chicken and had to take our pie to-go. Mom enjoyed her rhubarb and we all enjoyed the chicken, rolls with boysenbery preserves, and the cabbage. Great meal! Pleasant staff and great service!

    Service was not as in the past. No menus available, no silverware (had to ask for it), no napkins, iced tea not refilled. Needs to be more attentive.

    Very overrated restaurant. Fried chicken was on the under cooked sided of being done. Biscuits good. Bosenberry pie was similar to commercial bakery product…. Nothing special.

    We were seated near an entire football team of approx 10-11 year olds with several adults with them. Apparently it was their awards banquet. The boys were loud and out of their chairs often. It was not an enjoyable evening out for us at all. The group should have been separated from other guests. Our server was just as annoyed as we were.

    Waited an hour for our food and they still forgot to bring our side dishes. Waited another 25-30 mins for the dessert after that and ended up having to take it to go since we had already been there so long. Overall was there for over 2 hours. Service was very slow and for the amount of time we waited the food was just ok and not hot by the time they finally brought it to us. This is the second time we have had such bad service there. Probably won’t go back.

    While I appreciated when I called holding the reservation due to traffic backup, but when got there still had a long wait until asked about seating time then all the sudden sat us. The chicken was little dry potatoes warm with cold gravy, it was the not the same experience I had when I was younger.
