Muraya, a culinary haven located in the heart of Southend, Charlotte founded by a charming couple with a deep love, for food, cocktails and hospitality. Our journey began with a heartfelt inspiration drawn from the vibrant city of Cartagena. Every dish we create is a tribute to its rich culture, mesmerizing colors, and captivating history.
At our restaurant, we pour our passion for Colombian cuisine into every plate we serve. Overall experience was meh. The vibe was awesome outside of the music which was so loud and I couldn’t have a conversation with my husband sitting across the table. The food was just okay, nothing seemed hot and flavors were okay. I wouldn’t go back to this place as I know I can get much better food elsewhere.

We heard good things about the restaurant and upon arrival everything seemed quaint. We sat down and it took several minutes before greeted by our server. We order drinks and food and all of our food arrived at one time leaving very little room on the table eat our food. The sushi roll we ordered had to be yesterday’s rice and the salmon was very fishy on top of the roll. The roll was not edible. We notified our server that the roll was not edible and he confirmed that the roll was not good either after returning it to the Chef. Our server offered us a drink instead of the roll and when we received the bill the sushi roll that was not good was on our bill along with the “complimentary” drink offered by the server. When we asked about removing the sushi roll and drink, the server mentioned that he was only offering food to make up for the bad food experience. The other 3 plates we ordered had minimal flavor and was overpriced. Sadly, we will not return.

Appetizers: Mini Arepas - Corn arepas, lump crab salad, dill, chipotle aioli, celery, pickled onions Rabo Arancini - Braised oxtail, house risotto, parmesan cheese, oxtail bechamel & peppercorn pan sauce, yuca crumbs Mains: Pollo Callejero - Corn flake crusted chicken, sriracha passion fruit, scallions, crema fresca Wild Mushroom Ravioli - Seared oyster mushroom, black truffle bechamel + crab meat Drinks: Pistachero - Vodka, pistachio orgeat, espresso, cointreau Comuna - Plantation dark, banana liqueur, coconut purée, pineapple, blackberry foam Muraya delivered a fantastic Colombian culinary experience! The flavours were rich, authentic, and absolutely delicious. The tapas-style portions were perfect for sharing, allowing us to try a variety of dishes. Our server, Jimena Q, was incredibly personable and had great recommendations, making the evening even more enjoyable. The appetizers arrived quickly—just in time to satisfy our hunger—though the drinks followed a little later. Fortunately, water was served right away, which was appreciated. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with music that made us feel like we were on vacation. The aromas from the kitchen and nearby tables were so enticing that we wanted to order everything! Thank you, Muraya, for a beautiful evening and a memorable dining experience. We’ll definitely be back!

Its our first time and the overall experience was good. The staff was very nice and hardworking. We enjoyed our sushi and the Tuna Tartar. The chicken appetizer is not my favorite as I prefer hot sauce over my fried chicken rather than a sweet sauce. The drinks were pretty good too. They had live music which was actually amazing but it was too loud that we couldn’t hear what the waiter was talking. So my husband and I were mostly talking very loud to hear each other. I would preferred if they lowered the sound and keep it more enjoyable. Oh but the couple doing salsa was just beautiful….

First let me share that were a party of six. We had a disappointing experience that we feel compelled to share. From the moment we walked in, the customer service was subpar. Despite having a reservation, we were left waiting for 30 minutes before being seated, and the supervisor/manager response was dismissive and condescending. Rather than addressing the issue professionally or offering a solution he made us feel like our feedback didn’t matter. His tone was patronizing. The server who eventually took our order was pleasant and professional, but we had to ask specific questions about the menu. The food was underwhelming,some members from our party ordered the ravioli, which was bland and lacked seasoning. the dish just didn’t have the depth of flavor they were hoping for. It felt like it needed more salt, pepper, or herbs to elevate the taste. Overall, our experience was far from what we had hoped for. We left feeling frustrated, and we won’t be returning anytime soon. Poor service and lackluster food are a bad combination, and I sincerely hope you make the necessary improvements in both areas.
