Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Melissa Miranda

From the OpenTable editors: Food & Wine Best New Chef Melissa Miranda is leading a new generation of Filipino food at Musang, serving up innovative takes on her childhood favorites. That means dishes like a Filipino bent to Caesar salad, mushroom sisig, and rich short rib kare kare, all of which led to several nominations for James Beard Awards. Locals love the cozy dining room inside the craftsman-style purple house, which spills out into a brick-lined back patio.

Musang continues to impress! This was our second time dining here, and it certainly won’t be our last. The food was outstanding - thoughtfully prepared, full of flavor, and perfectly coursed to make for a well-paced dining experience. The urban vibe adds to the charm, creating a warm yet energetic atmosphere that makes you want to linger a little longer. Service was top-notch, with attentive staff ensuring our drinks were always refreshed and that every course arrived at just the right moment. It’s clear that hospitality is a priority here, which only enhances the overall experience. If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and book a table. Musang is a true gem, and we can’t wait to come back again!

Absolutely delicious!! I love a menu that intends sharing among the table. SO MANY GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS!! I did not feel like I was missing out on anything because there was so much I could have. The dishes were flavorful and inventive. Definitely coming back to

Terrific service with friendly anbiance for a group to drink and chat. Nice selection of drinks including nonalcoholics. Lumpia was delicious. I am Filipino-American, so take this with a grain of salt: cuisine seemed west coast Filipino fusion and not for Filipino taste, and as such was great for everyone at my table and will probably be just fine for most everyone except those hoping for "just like home" Filipino cooking.

Delicious food, great drinks, nice vibe. Restaurant adds 22% service charge, split between the house, so staff receive a living wage. I 100% support this and prefer it to standard tipping practice. But when presented with our bill, we were told about the 22% service charge and that “it’s split between the house but you can leave extra for the server.” She then stood over our shoulder as we signed the check, which has a line for ‘tip’. Awkward. If we’re expected to add additional, on top of the service charge, specifically for the server, just increase the service charge. If not, then no need for server to mention it, yes? An otherwise nice evening that ended on an unpleasantly weird note.

Delightful dining experience and excellent food. Mandatory 22% service charge to house—not kitchen and staff—then being asked to tip on top was off putting. Our server was great and we wanted to tip her, but that meant we spent 32% of bill on service charge and gratuity.

I’ve had Musang on my list for such a long time and am so happy I finally went. I was celebrating my birthday and felt extra special to celebrate here. The service was absolutely amazing! The food was the conversation of the night exceeded all expectations! Already planning my next visit. We had ordered the scallops, duck adobo, lumpia, paella, and garlic rice we had 5 people totally we all left perfectly full. Ooh and the dessert! The flan and jackfruit ice cream were superb again everything was a hit! The staff was so sweet they had given us these sweet corn cakes I didn’t catch the name of them but also a 10.

The squid ink pancit and long green beans were absolutely amazing. The food is very flavorful and unique. We also had the corn cakes which sounded rather bland but we’re definitely the best corn cakes I’ve ever eaten.
