   We love Nick’s! Over the past two decades, perhaps even longer, we have thoroughly enjoyed Nick’s, as well as South of Nick’s. We’d dined in Laguna Beach, Long Beach, San Clemente, Del Mar, and in our favorite location - Carlsbad, our home turf. One of our shared favorites is Nick’s delicious and healthy Bistro salad, which we have enjoyed so many times. I especially love Nick’s Chicken Piccata and order it often. My husband loves their Cioppino accompanied by their delicious, warm and toasty sourdough garlic bread. Last night was New Year’s Eve, and my husband once again ordered the Cioppino. He requested “extra toasting”, but unfortunately the bread wasn’t toasted to his stausfaction. Our server gladly returned it to the kitchen for additional toasting . . . Then, somehow, as we enjoyed our meal, they forgot about our bread. When we told our server, the manager came over, apologized profusely, assured us that the bread was coming soon and offered to cover our dinner. The many dozens of meals we have enjoyed at Nick’s have pretty much been perfect. I do hope that nick’s will reconsider making their French Onion Sloup in the more traditional fashion; not the purreed, creamed version, which is totally boring. I also hope they will consider bringing back their awesome, multi-layered lemon cake! It is dreamy, delicious, and absolutely a winner!

   Our Favorite Local Spot in Carlsbad, CA. Always delicious and perfect! I recommend reservations, as very popular! The specialty deviled eggs appetizer are yummy. Tonight we had: The Chilean Sea Bass on a delicious light lemon sauce is ALWAYS perfectly cooked. I love the Petite Bistro Plate, if the soup is one of my favorites. It includes, a very petite Filet Mignon, a petite Bistro Salad and a cup of the homemade soup of the day. It was my favorite creamy corn chowder tonight. Delicious. The French Dip Sandwich is always a good choice. We shared the Devine Butter Cake served on a berry sauce with ice cream. Enough for 4 of us as so rich and sweet. Not usually dessert eaters. Did not like the house Cab and ordered a different on that was good. Inside seating with a lively bar scene and a lovely covered patio with heaters. Everything is made fresh in the kitchen with windows. A very pretty casual restaurant with beautiful rest rooms. Excellent staff. A rare find. Thank you Nick’s on State!

   Been here 4 times in the last few months. I love taking my family here. We love the food and drinks. Only complaint I have is i ordered a medium well steak for my autistic son and it came medium. Not a big deal for me but my son didn't eat a single bite because it came out more rare than what I normally cook him. So we took home a whole untouched entree. We got the fried chicken when was great but gets soggy quickly from the gravy. Still bomb though. Tried the ribeye sandwich. Won't get that again flavor of onions were perfect but the steak itself lacked in flavor. Ordered so many fries as usual since it's my kids safe food. They make the meili vodka mai tai (not on menu anymore) but they make it for my husband and I whenever we come. It is soooo delicious and I look forward to the drinks when I come here. Can never go wrong with the thai salad which is what I should have gotten but I wanted to try out other things on the menu. Appreciate the service. Sucks that the server didn't check to see why the entree wasn't eaten. But overall love coming here.

   Had to have the Fried Chicken last night. It has been a few months. I am not sure what the use to make the Gravy but Game Changer. The Food at Nicks is all about, “Yummy Yummy Yummy I got ❤️ in my Tummy”

   Nick's on State had been highly recommended to my wife and me, so we decided to take a chance on reserving a date for our wedding anniversary dinner this year. We were NOT disappointed! It was a fabulous meal, with warm and attentive service, a pleasant atmosphere, and a surprise "Happy Anniversary" treat to top off our dinner. Thank you for a memorable experience!
