Nino's continues to be an Upper East Side gem, the last of a breed of restaurants where diners actually get dressed to enjoy a meal in an elegant but not stiff setting. The menu offerings are Old School Italian, Ivy League not Community College. :-) Nino's Homemade Meatballs are a must. Nino is a consummate host, who actually reads the Notes on Open Table and fulfills all requests.

The atmiaphere was very nice and the piano player was great, bringing a cool vibe to dinner. The service was excellent, and the menu had a lot of nice options. My wife loved the sauce, but my chicken dish was bland.

I made the reservation for Christmas as I'd enjoyed Christmas dinner at Nino's in 2023. The food as usual was extremely good. I started with the Mesculin Greens. The entree was Braised Lamb Shank which I've had before and truly enjoy. I took dessert home (Italian Cheesecake) which was very good. The problems I had was (a) being seated in the bar area and (b) the slow service. The bar area has 2 TVs: one with Fox and the other with basketball games. The one with the basketball games was larger and closer and it was almost impossible to not watch one or the other. I had no desire to watch either while enjoying Christmas dinner. The service was very slow. It took quite a while for the salad to arrive, and the entree took over an hour to be served. I also had to request refills for water. No one came around and just refilled the glass. Probably because no one was around the bar area very often. A family that came in, left because they could see I was waiting quite a while, and they didn't have the time. On the opposite end, a man came in and received his menu, had his order taken and was eating his entree before mine had arrived. I've eaten at Nino's before and hadn't had the problems I had this Christmas. I'd always been seated in the dining room and the service, while not speedy (which I don't want when I'm eating out), also wasn't this slow. I enjoy the food and have started ordering for delivery because eating out is a bit expensive what with the wine and the tip (I'm a fairly generous tipper and have no plans to change that). I hope this was a one-time situation and that if I have Christmas dinner here next year, the experience will be much improved.

We enjoyed our Thanksgiving meal at Ninos’s! Especially because we were able to get all 12 of us traveling together in for our dinner. Only hiccup was not being able to have our bills separated into the three families. Also, soda refills were costly, maybe five dollars apiece. But this was not written on any menu or told to us by our server. But all in all, it was a beautiful restaurant and we were super happy to enjoy Thanksgiving with Nino!

An example, of many, that sets Nino's apart. I confirmed my reservation by OpenTable, which would be enough for most restaurants. Nino personally called me to confirm for my wife and my Thanksgiving reservation. Nino's service is as stellar as the cuisine. We have been dining there for years and hope to continue for many more!
