Located on Charleston's historic Broad Street, Oak Steakhouse is a classic American steakhouse. A classic array of both wet and dry aged Certified Angus® Beef are featured on the menu. Ingredients are sourced locally and regionally from sustainable farmers and fisherman to accent the steakhouse menu. Items including local oysters on the half-shell, Clammer Dave's caper clams and a daily fresh fish selection depending on the season. Other popular dishes include the whole fried lobster, goat.sheep.cow artisanal cheese plate, wedge of Kurios Farms bibb lettuce salad, the house-made pasta and vegetarian plate. The expansive and impressive wine program at Oak Steakhouse emphasizes big California Cabernets and Old World reds from Italy and Bordeaux with more than 200 wines by the bottle and 20 wines by the glass. The bar attracts a loyal, local following from nearby businesses and neighborhoods with its great cocktails and happy hour. Inside a historic bank building that dates back to 1848, Oak's stately setting features three floors with five distinct dining areas. From the OpenTable editors: In a historic bank building from 1848, Oak Steakhouse rises up three stories of leather booths, exposed brick, and cozy fireplaces. This is the place for seafood towers, Angus steaks, and bold Cabernets. It’s the heart of the Indigo Road group, helmed by James Beard semifinalist restaurateur Steve Palmer. There are now seven locations across the South, but none beat the original—Condé Nast Traveler calls it one of the best restaurants in Charleston, while others rank it among the best steakhouses in the country.

                                                                                              Our server Chris was absolutely amazing. My girlfriend often request hot/warm water at restaurants. At restaurants that’s more catered towards westerner, they never refill unless asked for. Not Chris. Chris was attentive all evening even though he was busy with what seemed like every other table. Every time my girlfriend finished her cup of hot water, Chris immediately brought out another one. Never once at a “western restaurant” has this happened in my life. Chris made this experience unforgettable, and we’re truly thankful for the service.

A valentine’s evening, I ordered their fish special: grouper on a bed of couscous. The fish had no flavor, and the couscous was room temperature. My partner ordered the 8 oz petite filet, that lacked the juicy salt flavor you come to expect from a quality cut of beef. We eat a lot of fine dining. I was very disappointed in the experience. The price was expected, the value was poor.

                                                                                              It was perfect Everything was amazing they went out of their way to make us feel welcome especially for a younger couple and didn’t make us feel like we didn’t belong. Also made us honey mustard specifically because they didn’t have any thank yall so much for making our first Valentine’s Day special can’t wait to be back

Service was exceptional, beautiful decor, and it was reasonably quiet- which seems rare these days with so many restaurants that are exceedingly noisy. Pecan Old Fashioned was unique and very good. Oysters Rockefeller were also very good. My guest had Bolognese - I know "at a steakhouse? In the South?" but it was the best I have ever tasted! Likewise, the jalapeno cornbread was also incredible. I had the ribeye which was very good, but not exceptional. Well prepared, perfect temperature but it just seems quality of steaks at restaurants isn't what it was even just a few years ago. This is not unique to Oak in my experience of late. Overall, I highly recommend Oak for a classy night out and will definitely return.

                                                                                              We had a fantastic dining experience in downtown Charleston. Seated by the window on the 3rd floor, the atmosphere was romantic. The food was excellent—shrimp cocktail, oysters Rockefeller, oak salad, and a perfectly cooked 14 oz NY strip, with mac n' cheese and brussel sprouts on the side. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced for a steakhouse in this area. The staff was friendly, and getting a reservation was easy. Highly recommend!
