Amazing gastronomic experience —so many interesting flavors we have never tasted before and inventive vegetarian cuisine, which is hard to do. Kudos to the kitchen and to our waitstaff; Roger, simply amazing. Run, don’t walk to Ocumare!

Excellent. Everything we tasted was next level. Tulum has some gastronomic gems and this is one of them. We wished we had this restaurant back home.

Arrogante hostess, we werden aan een zeer slecht verlichte tafel gezet. Diverse malen gevraagd om wat extra kaarsen. Niet gekregen. Toen ook het bestelde water niet kwam, zijn we maar weggegaan. We zagen overigens ook een andere tafel van 6 personen 5 minuten ma aankomst vertrekken. Daarna maar naar Bagatelle gegaan, kregen daar hartelijke ontvangst, mooie tafel en heerlijk eten. Het kan dus wel in Tulum. Overigens een soortgelijke ervaring gehad in het andere strand restaurant van dit BE Tulum hotel. Dat heet 4 Fuegos. Ondanks onze reservering werden we door de hostess met 6 personen aan een 4 persoons tafel gezet. Ze weigerde een andere lege tafel ernaast ertegenaan te schuiven. “Dat mocht niet volgens haar”. Dit hotel moet hun tafel hostessen wat mij betreft op straat zetten. Ze zijn dom, arrogant en niet gastvrij. Ze kunnen beter uitsmijter bij een club worden.

My wife and I visited Ocumare, Saturday November 23rd and we were very disappointed in our experience. The atmosphere and live music were top notch. But the service and food was awful. We waited forever to be waited on, then 30 minutes for a drink to arrive. The food was just as bad of a wait, the portions were tiny and the food was served cold. We had no apology from our waiter or the staff for the delay and the meal. We left frustrated with an expensive bill with gratuity already added in and empty stomachs. We do not recommend unless you just want to pay for the atmosphere.

Really enjoyable meal - less self indulgent venue and team than a few of the other nearby restaurants, but food was wonderfully presented, and felt a little more like elevated traditional dishes which were exceptionally tasty, than ‘deconstructed for Instagram’ plates. Team was also friendly and the music was a bit more local too - no pumping low-fi house!
