   We'll never know how it was. This restaurant closed forever a week before. We never were notified of this closing and drove 40 miles only to find a closed restaurant. This was even after receiving a text to confirm our reservation the day before.

   Reservations were made for Friday 10/18/24 for my husband and I. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was CLOSED. No notice. Nothing.

   This restaurant is no longer open. I was not happy that they took our reservation and then decided to close the restaurant down. There was no notice sent to us. We came from out of town and had two little kids with us.

   The business was closed permanently. We arrived to find the place dark and a chalkboard with closed written on it. The locals informed us that it was closed permanently. To say the least we were sorely disappointed and left seeking other arrangements at the last minute.

   We arrived at the restaurant after driving over an hour to discover it had closed permanently two days before. I received no notification canceling my reservations.

   We had booked maybe a month ago in hopes of doing the chefs table. When I called they informed me that the Autumn Festival would be going on so they were not doing chefs table but we could do regular seating at 5:30pm which was great for us. When we arrived they only had the lunch menu and majority of the wine and cocktail list was marked out. Food was good but disappointing that it was only lunch menu if we had known that we wouldn’t have gone.

   Loved trying this place we've passed by a few times! Very quiet and lowkey dinner with fantastic food and service.

   What has changed at this place? It’s terrible and used to be our favorite. 1). Our dinner menu was a limited lunch menu, with limited and not great options. Also, it was on cheap paper and looked like we should get crayolas. This is a high end restaurant?? 2). First three items we ordered were out of stock. 3). Food was sub-par at best, which is the opposite of every past experience we have had here. Something / ownership? has definitely changed. Ver sad.

   Old North State is an excellent choice for a relaxing dining experience. The atmosphere is rustic. The ceiling is high and tables are widely spaced, enabling you to converse with your dining partners without having to raise your voice to be heard and without being “outdone” by conversations from other tables. The food is very good, and in particular I recommend the tomato bisque soup! So delicious! In addition, the pimento cheese dip with toasted baguette slices is an outstanding appetizer. Our server was perfect-informative and attentive without hovering. We have eaten at ONS several times and have never been disappointed.

    Great find in this small town! The food was excellent and slightly upscale, which we like. The wine list was extensive but we went with the local wine, which just like the food, was excellent. Pricing was affordable and we took home 4 bottles.
