An excellent lunch in beautiful surroundings, marred by piped music too loud.

Stayed here many years ago and needed a location midway to meet a friend for lunch. Staff were welcoming and attentive. Sadly not a full menu ( find this in a lot of places). The food we chose was very nice and portion size was adequate leaving space for dessert. Dessert was tasty although didn't feel description of the sticky toffee as fondant was terribly accurate. Felt a little pricy for a lunch but food prices are on the rise. Seating not very comfy, did much better when we popped in later after out walk and had a drink in much comfier seats. Possibly would visit again as location works well.

It is always a pleasure to revisit The Old Swan, a pub with so much history. We sat in one of the front rooms, pleasant but now rather shabby. Our Sunday roast was good though a bit overcooked for medium rare. Treacle tart delicious. Service slow but all told a good outing.

The setting was lovely in a very attractive building. The food was great, as was the service. Unfortunately, even though the fire was lit, the room was almost Baltic. My partner kept her coat on throughout the meal and other diners had coats on or coats on their laps. When a table became free by the fire all of the diners had a conversation to decide who should take it. What a shame; had it been a nasty cosy room it would have been a perfect meal.

Staff were friendly and professional. Advised on best wine with the meal. It was a Sunday evening, we arrived slightly early to the time booked but were still shown to our table. We were given the Sunday roast menu to which three had the beef and I had the lamb. The food tasted great with compliments from my guests. One asked for horseradish sauce to which was provided immediately. My lamb was a little chewy in places but overall was good. The gravy was outstanding in flavour and my guests also commented equally. This was a second visit to the Old Swan for me and two guests, the previous visit being about a year ago and both times were a great experience. Many thanks to the Old Swan and its staff
