Olivine wine bar is nestled inside of the 170-year-old heritage-listed bluestone walls of the former HM Pentridge Prison.
You will meet your host to guide you through this unconventional space, until you find yourself in velvet-clad, faintly lit booths. Hidden away, the only distraction here is our novel-like book of wine, your key to our walk in cellar.
Olivine is a place for all from the most passionate to those just beginning their journey of wine. Our list is written in a way that encourages you to sample different regions, we hope you'll come away with a few new favorites or some wines to add to the bucket list.
Walk-ins are subject to availability. Booth seating cannot be guaranteed but we aim to accommodate guest requests where we can.

The food and cocktails were standout, there wasn’t a dish we didn’t enjoy (and we tried 3/4 of the menu!). The kingfish and chicken pâté were our favourites, and the oysters were really fresh and zingy. The service was efficient and friendly, and our food came out quickly. We agreed that next time we would choose a table in the bar over the main seating areas, as the converted ‘cells’ don’t get a lot of natural light. However, if you’re looking for something cozy and intimate these rooms certainly fit the brief!

The whole experience was amazing. From our greeting, the service, the food and the check out.
We were not rushed, suggestions were spot on, especially with the wine (thank you) and the selections suited everyone.

My girlfriend and I went to celebrate her birthday on a Saturday night.
I don’t usually write reviews but the experience was incredible.
We sat in the booth (old cell) and it was very nicely presented.
The service was top class, and the food…
Was UNBELIEVABLE, everything we ate was fresh, cooked perfectly, seasoned very well and the overall experience was unforgettable.
Easily one of the best dining experiences I / we have ever had.

Such a beautiful wine bar and incredibly unique! It’s the second time I’ve visited and both occasions have been perfect in every way. Gorgeous venue and super stylish fit out, delicious drinks and food. Exceptional service too!

It was our first time at Olivine, and we look forward to returning. A unique space and ambience and the service was above expectations. We tried a couple of wines which were excellent. A couple of the dishes we ordered, however, were slightly disappointing compared to other wine bars, so I hope my comments will help in this regard. The warmed olives could have had more variety, in texture and taste. As they were all quite strong in vinegar, it affected the appreciation of the accompanying wine. The salumi dish also only had two meats, one of which was unimpressive. I think a more considered and varied selection would do the impressive wine list more justice. Overall a very enjoyable experience.
