We had a great experience dining at Otaru for the first time for my husband’s birthday. Angela was our server and she was wonderful - very knowledgeable and friendly. We each chose to do the Otaru course which included the salmon tataki appetizer, 6 pieces of chef selected premium sushi, a godzilla roll, and matcha ice cream. The selection and quality of the fish was top notch - best we’ve had in Pittsburgh. We even added on a few pieces of nigiri because we were so excited about how delicious it all was! We also enjoyed the blooming love and old fashioned cocktails with our meal. Highly recommend Otaru!

Beautiful, romantic location in the hills overlooking downtown Pittsburgh and the river. Food was an experience of exceptional quality, especially for the area! Our waitress was friendly and helpful, although it did take a long time for her to come over after we had been seated for about 10 minutes. Cocktails were underwhelming for the price, but the sushi and tasting experience was on-point. Expect to pay a pretty penny, but this is definitely a special occasion restaurant. Would definitely go back!

Otaru was a phenomenal experience once again. As a return customer, Otaru continues to deliver on its quality of food and attentive service. Our favorite server Angela took great care of us and we would recommend to all our friends and family.

Overall a fantastic experience. Our server Noah was very knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. It was my boyfriend’s birthday and they gave us a little cake with a candle and wrote happy birthday on the plate. Very cute. The food was just amazing and views were 😍😍😍. Will absolutely be back again.

Had our favorite sushi in Pittsburgh by far with the 15 course Omakase experience. Alan's menu (our sushi Chef) was perfect. We had the pleasure of experiencing a wide variety of food, and each course itself was amazing. This was coupled with fantastic service by the knowledgeable and attentive Noah, making for an awesome experience. Even if you don't want to do the Thursday Omakase experience, you have to try this place. Between the food, the service, and the views it should be on your list if you love sushi.

Overall, our experience at OTARU was exceptional. Our evening started with warm hand towels that bloomed into flowers in front of our eyes. Our server, Noah, expertly guided our party of four through the menu. With his suggestions in mind, we ordered an array of dishes among us and enjoyed every one. Special shout outs go to the roasted salmon entree and the wine selection. This is not even to mention the view of the city. I would recommend both OTARU and Noah to any diner and we definitely will be back! Five stars.
