We went for the fried chicken. It was great, but second time in a row that we found the legs small. Overall, great experience.

Fortunately, it was a quiet day as they did not have a reservation for us when we got there. We were going to a play. Had it been busy, as it so often is, we might not have made it to our play on time.

The Ox Yoke Inn has always been a favorite of our family for years. So when my husband's birthday came around we decided to celebrate it there. In the past we were always asked if this is a special occasion, but not this time. I had a feeling we were bother the staff from a quiet Sunday afternoon. Because extra care was not given. My Dad's glass of wine was spilled on him by the waitress. Though she seemed sorry - I have a feeling it was more to prevent her getting into trouble then anything else. We understand that these things happen - nothing was done about any kind of compensation - a free glass on the house. Our meals were serviced in a hurry. Not much time was given for us to enjoy the salads, bread, etc before our meals were placed in front of us. The food was good. I have a feeling the kitchen doesn't do as much "homemade" as it use to. Our family was given a chance to visit and enjoy our meal but the Ox Yoke Inn just doesn't seem like the place it use to be.

It's been years since I've been to the Ox Yoke Inn. There were 5 of us and the food was as good as I remembered. Service was great. Three of us had the ham, one fried chicken and the other the country steak. Family style was our choice and the bowls were kept filled as often as we requested. Beverages were kept full as well.

The Ox Yoke has been our family's go the place for special celebrations since I was a kid. Now I am bringing my grandchildren. I was very sad to see the deterioration of what we thought to be the premier place to eat in Amana. They were not busy, yet for some reason seated us in the back room, next to the door into the kitchen. There was one other group in this room, it was a group on 8 seated in the middle of the room. Between this group and the noise from the kitchen we could not even hear each other talk, we mentioned that it was very loud and she replied they should be leaving soon. Our next disappointment was with the menu, family style is now and option, according to our server "it is off season". The food well let's just say we were seated and had our bill within 45 minutes, and because of the lack of food we ate on our dinner plate, we had dessert also in that 45 minutes. The quality of the food, well let's just say I think it had been in a warmer probably form lunchtime, the fried chicken had not crunch and was sooooooo tough!! And beef gravy, on the mashed potato served with chicken. The food at best would be what you would expect from a cafeteria line. So sad, maybe this is why there were so few customers, during what should have been the evening rush.

From the moment we walked in the door we felt like we were home. Old style decor greeted us welcomes you. The waitress, Shauna, took time to explain the history of the restaurant and gave us a brief tour. She answered all our questions about the food options. The food was excellent. Overall a wonderful experience and we WILL be going back.

As usual,this was a truly great outing for our family. The atmosphere, staff and food make this a great dining experience. It's really remarkable when you can go to the same place three and four times a year, year after year and always have a wonderful time. We're already looking forward to our next visit.
