The food was absolute perfection. The fresh guaq was phenomenal. The fish taco was so delicious it required ordering another one! We were seated early and the entire wait staff was welcoming and professional. They set the standard for authentic Mexican cuisine. Highly recommend!

Overpriced and average mexican food. The cochas were burnt at the bottom. Not what you would expect from a Jose Andres restaurant.

Super duper. Excellent service and delicious food. Thank you for accommodating our large party of 13. Enjoyed every bit of it from the chips, salsa, guacamole, to the tacos, fajitas, and margaritas.

Great restaurant week spot. Took quite a while to get our order taken and one party member had to wait more than 5 minutes for their food after everyone else’s arrived but staff was friendly and food was amazing.

The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The decor of the restaurant is also beautiful. The staff were excellent and even though they were very busy, they made sure that you were well taken care of.

Restaurant Review: Oyamel Cocina Mexicana (Bib Gourmand) – Disappointing Experience I didn’t think you could go wrong with Mexican food, but this was another Bib Gourmand restaurant that left me wondering why hole-in-the-wall taco spots taste way better and cost half the price. The menu seemed very vegetarian-focused, with limited meat options. We originally planned to do Restaurant Week, but the options were so limited that we ordered off the regular menu instead. Food: 3/5 Tacos (Carnitas, Beef, and Chicken) – Out of the three, the beef taco was the best, but that was only because I added the $2 habanero sauce. Without it, everything was bland, and the meat was tough. Chips & Guacamole – The chips tasted store-bought, and I’m not sure if they’re even made in-house. The guacamole is made fresh at the table, which is a nice touch, but I didn’t try it since I don’t eat guacamole. Ambiance: 2/5 I did not like the decor—too many animal statues and wall art everywhere. Maybe it’s part of the "culture," but as a Christian, it made me uncomfortable and gave off false idol vibes. Service: 4/5 The service was attentive and friendly, no complaints there. Final Thoughts: I understand how the Bib Gourmand list works, I can see that Oyamel likely made the cut for its ingredient quality and preparation, rather than bold flavors. But for me, Mexican food is all about flavor, seasoning, and authenticity, and this place just didn’t deliver. I’ve had better tacos at small, no-frills spots for half the price, where the seasoning is spot-on and every bite is packed with flavor. If you’re looking for authentic, flavorful Mexican food, I’d skip Oyamel and head to a good taco truck instead. Final Ratings: Food: ⭐⭐ (2/5) – Bland, overpriced, and tough meat. Ambiance: ⭐⭐ (2/5) – Uncomfortable decor. Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) – Great service.

Was there for restaurant week, and the special menu was a great deal and very tasty too. Also got the guac with the chips; highly recommend it. Service was good too. The biggest downside was noise level; hard to hear my friend talk. But overall very glad I went.
