We made last minute reservations on a Monday night during the holidays. A great time to go. Plenty of tables and seats available. There were two servers - a bartender and a waiter. It was a calm and relaxed environment, which enhanced our experience. We had somewhat modest expectations for Puritan Oyster Bar. Not a lot of restaurants were open on Monday, so POB was sort of a compromise. Or so we thought. The quality of the food and drink were much higher than we expected! We surmised that the Oyster bar is where Puritan experiments with new dishes. We mainly got smaller dishes, which were packed with flavor and texture. All but one dish were huge successes. I'll start with the bad - the overpriced, under-filled buttered lobster toast for $23. I didn't taste any lobster or seafood and it certainly wasn't visibile. The standouts were the Swordfish Pastrami, the butternut bisque, the Cod? Cheeks (deep fried, with Kimchi and a green paste), and Stuffie Croquettes. We enjoyed the Smoked Bluefish Melt but it was very fishy (as you would expect with bluefish) and not as deeply pleasing as the other dishes. Drinks were well constructed and had deep, herbaceous flavor. The Ginger Cake dessert was too small for three to share and it was hard to cut with a spoon. Could have done without it. Three people with one drink each came to $217 including 20% tip. We are excited to try the main Puritan & Co next door, with a larger, more traditional seafood menu.

Cannot say enough positive things about this restaurant! Went for my boyfriend’s birthday who has multiple food allergies. The bartender was a delight and worked with the chef to help us navigate the menu. The fish pastrami was to die for. Must order. Loved the drinks, loved the food, loved the people. Will definitely go back when in town.

Everything was great, sauce from surf and turf was really good, good oyster selection all plates were very balanced, and the plus from the service was having Chef Aguinaldo to chat and explain all plates with detail. 10/10.

Puritan Oyster Bar did an incredible job at providing a 10/10 meal and 10/10 service. Cambridge Street Hospitality Group never fails to amaze me with top tier food and service. Would recommend to anyone for anything from a casual dinner date to an exciting birthday dinner. The seafood is incredibly fresh and well prepared and dessert is not to be missed!
