From July 1st, 1957, there had been two owners of Pates, Cloyde Pate followed by the Gardner family of Chatham. Mr. Pate opened the doors to what would soon become one of Cape Cod’s most beloved restaurants. Once a cozy hamburger and ice cream stand, Pates grew to be a place of celebration, camaraderie, and community. From the bonds staff made during countless summer seasons, to the engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, and family gatherings, Pates has been a backdrop for exceptional moments and people.

We are honored to steward the next chapter of the Pates journey. A renovated space to create new memories and friends, Pates is still that very special place. With careful consideration, we have redefined this Chatham classic and are serving up an experience rooted in the best things in life: great food, good people, and lifelong memories.

Fantastic service for one of the last tables of Thanksgiving evening. Leo, our server, was delightfully energetic and patient as we ordered and lingered. Nice wine selection.

Thanksgiving dinner was fine. On the bright side, the wait service was impeccable. Also enjoyed a heathy dram of single malt to start. A generous pour for sure. However, aside from the service and the libation, there was nothing particularly extraordinary or memorable about the meal. The initial course Kale salad was very good - light, tangy and slightly citrusy, with a crunch supplied by pumpkin seeds. The white meat turkey in the main course appeared to be precut from a precook turkey breast. We were informed they were out of dark meat. Unfortunately, the turkey served was not freshly or even recently roasted. Mashed potatoes, squash, stuffing and gravy were all ok, kinda what you’d expect - barely above average. The snow peas were limp and mushy. There was an unidentifiable meat adjacent to the white meat turkey on the plate. It definitely was not dark meat turkey. Appeared to be roasted pork, but not sure. We skipped dessert. Overall, the meal was tasty but not impressive - I give it a high-3 or low 4 out of a 5 rating - not what I expect from Pates.

Appetizers were amazing! My son had the swordfish, not one spec of food left. My other son had the seafood casserole, lobster, shrimp, and scallops, over pasta, again delicious. I had the turkey dinner, it was very good, but for my taste, much too salty. All and all it was a wonderful evening.

The server was friendly and excellent in providing food recommendations. The food and drinks were excellent.

Pate’s food was delicious and service was wonderful. Our server; Heather was lovely, friendly and accommodating. I love a welcome from a Host as you enter too-

First time eating out in almost two years——am in wheelchair. Everything was delicious ( including the coconut snowball for dessert) and a it was totally a pleasant experience. Marvelous! Looking forward to a return trip!!!

Friendly attentive service and really good food. We loved this place. The decor is relaxing, spacious, and beautiful. Everyone was respectful and polite. We’ll come back next time we’re in the area.

Pete has become one of the best restaurants on Cape Cod The hospitality is beyond compare. The food is Pyrexx in the atmosphere is amazing.
