   After great anticipation for dinner at the Piedmont, we were greeted rudely, to be followed by the buffet dinner, which was almost inedible. The food was old and every protein was overcooked.

   Food was all cold. Prime rib too tuff to eat. Who eats cold crab legs with no butter! Not even close to 60 dollars a person.

   Pine Mountain Callaway has improved their dining of late. The chefs at Callaway did a fine job of the Christmas buffet and true southern sides. Well Done.

   The food was just OK, definitely not worth the price. The service however was terrible! My husband and I went out for a romantic dinner for Christmas Eve and I thought that the Piedmont Dining Room would be a great place to go because of the pricey food. Because we don’t drink alcohol, we ordered water and coffee. Our server never came back to check on our drinks so we had to wave her down to ask for more coffee. Once she finally did bring us do more coffee, she brings a very small pot and only gave us a half cup each. She said that was all she had and she would have to brew some more if we wanted more. I mean, come on…this is a place that you drop $160 for a meal for 2 people without any alcoholic beverages, should we even have to ask her to brew more coffee?!

   Food was mid at best. Small variety on buffet, no labels as to what was what. Food not refilled often. Pasta station cook had a nasty bandaid on his finger and no gloves. Pasta was terrible too. Service was pretty good.

   I specifically made reservations to make sure we would have a good meal to eat after fantasy of lights at Callaway. I figured we couldn’t go wrong with an on property venue. I was mistaken. Regardless of a reservation, we still had to wait for a while and they were letting lots of others in without reservation, even though they were at capacity. Our area only had one waitress for at least seven tables of parties of five and more. We were never seen and ended up leaving without anything to eat. Quite the disappointment for such a pricey resort.

   We love visiting Callaway Gardens, especially at the holidays, so it pains me to write this review. The Sunday before Christmas, our party of 5 dined at Piedmont prior to seeing the lights. We were seated promptly as per our reservation time but it just went down hill from there. It took nearly 20 minutes before we even saw a server, during which time tables were getting up to leave. Our drinks and food took nearly 40 minutes, and some of it was forgotten. The surprise in the entire debacle is that the food was actually really good. (Steaks, salads and pasta.) They were offering a Caribbean buffet and touting it as the faster option - but it wasn’t much of a spread. Our group just didn’t want a Caribbean menu. They were clearly short-staffed and unorganized. Given the volume of visitors and dining patrons vs staff, they would have faired better by offering just a traditional buffet (no full menu). I hope they can get realigned.
