Pietramala is a little restaurant located in Northern Liberties celebrating plants, wood-fire cooking and seasonality. We offer a small, regularly changing menu based on the highest quality, organic ingredients grown or made with care in Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic. Our Italian leaning, but globally inspired food is always presented simply with familiar flavors achieved in creative new ways. Often touched by fire, smoke or fermentation to unlock unique flavors, our dishes sometimes require days or even months of preparation. We pride ourselves on our open kitchen, where our wood-fired hearth takes center stage, and our commitment to friendly service and warm hospitality in an intimate, but lively atmosphere. All are welcome and our entirely plant-based menu can accommodate any allergy or dietary restriction with advance notice. We are currently BYOB and offer a small, seasonal alcohol free beverage menu. We look forward to welcoming you.

You will be able to view the whole kitchen in action and interact with the chefs as they serve your food. Please consider that this reservation is near the door and is bar seating.     Great small restaurant with friendly service. Chefs pushing boundaries of flavors and techniques always an experience. Menu is always evolving using fresh local ingredients. BYOB is a bonus!

    I was a bit skeptical since I’m predominantly a junk food vegan, but the shogun black maitake with upstate abundance mashed potatoes and tiger eye bean miso absolutely blew my mind. I almost ordered a second one.

    I’ve become a regular at this special little place, and it’s such a treat every time. This is next level food made only with plants. The food is sophisticated, hyper-local, and inventive….all executed with meticulous attention to detail. The food is fancy, but the vibe is casual, friendly and chill. Always a good playlist coming from behind the counter, and just GO.

    If exquisite was a word to describe a meal consisting entirely of vegetables then this would be the place. First bite and our eyes went wide and we both said WOW! For each dish! The focaccia sourdough had a seed toasted top topped with a mouth warming tomato relish. Scrumptious! Golden beet salad of diced beets was mixed with a delightful mayo like dressing. A substantial serving of turnip chowder was a mix of snowy white veggies in a creamy white chowder broth. Turnips never tasted so good! Tallarini pasta with aged tofu and cauliflower was like taking the comfort of Mac & cheese to the next level, aka heaven. We were blown away with the mashed potato and maitake in a smoky gravy. The pumpkin pie with a whipped topping is a safe bet. The smoked pear cake kind stumped me with the cold mini rye pan cake with “buttercream “ filling. I think of pancakes as being eaten warm. We are certainly going back to Pietramala for another breathtaking veg adventure.
