Pietramala is a little restaurant located in Northern Liberties celebrating plants, wood-fire cooking and seasonality. We offer a small, regularly changing menu based on the highest quality, organic ingredients grown or made with care in Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic. Our Italian leaning, but globally inspired food is always presented simply with familiar flavors achieved in creative new ways. Often touched by fire, smoke or fermentation to unlock unique flavors, our dishes sometimes require days or even months of preparation. We pride ourselves on our open kitchen, where our wood-fired hearth takes center stage, and our commitment to friendly service and warm hospitality in an intimate, but lively atmosphere. All are welcome and our entirely plant-based menu can accommodate any allergy or dietary restriction with advance notice. We are currently BYOB and offer a small, seasonal alcohol free beverage menu. We look forward to welcoming you.

The creativity demonstrated in each dish at Pietramala is nothing less than phenomenal! It’s one thing to deliver impressive flavors when working exclusively with vegetables but another thing altogether to achieve the magic created at this restaurant. If you want to know what is possible with vegetables, dine here. It will be memorable!

This was one of the best meals I have ever had. Each course was fantastic, and the experience was superb.

Lovely spot for a birthday dinner. The food was yummy, the service great and we had a lovely time.

Genuinely some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. It helps on a first date that the food is the conversation.

Although the menus is not the biggest, the food is well prepared, seasoned and tasty. They seem to source their food locally which is very commendable. The staff members of the restaurant are very friendly and offer their services with smiles. The ambiance of the restaurant is pretty good. Did I mention that the food is excellent?!

Ambiance was good, food was not too good, too experimental and bitter. The some of the flavors we thought should’ve have been leaned into more, some may enjoy but not for us!

Absolutely loved our meal! Both our host and server were very welcoming and friendly, made great recommendations on their favorite dishes, and didn't rush us out after we finished eating. Each and every dish was fully-flavored and well-executed. I appreciate that the focus is on the seasonal produce itself, in preparations that highlight their best qualities without relying on things like seitan, tempeh, or other "meat substitutes." Hearty, Italian-inspired, but with some really fun, smart, and surprising flavor combinations. Some of our favorites included the focaccia (and specifically the XO sauce on top), the radicchio salad with smoky olives, tortelloni, parsnip milanese, and buffalo murasaki sweet potatoes. Both desserts that we tried (the chocolate dessert and sweet potato pie) were also a hit! I'm eager to come back as the seasons change to see what else they'll come up with!

Get the mushroom dish! Ian was very friendly in the brief moment we got to speak. A chef I highly respect in the Philly food scene said Pietramala was his favorite restaurant in the city. They have a renowned fermentation program.
