Top Chef contestant Leah Cohen's Pig and Khao (68 Clinton Street) on the Lower East Side. The Southeast Asian inspired cuisine offers a variety of Thai and Filipino influences on the menu including Crispy Pata and pickled mango salad (pork shank cooked in soy sauce and five spice garnished with coriander, crispy garlic served with a secret family recipe sweet and sour liver dipping sauce), Grilled Pork Jowl and Brussels Sprouts Salad (chili lime fish sauce, shallot, herbs and toasted rice) and Crispy Pork Belly Adobo (Szechuan peppercorn, coconut vinegar, soy sauce, bay leaves, crispy garlic, scallion and soft boiled egg). Drinks range from cheap canned beer, wine, cocktails, and a self-serve bottomless tap in the backyard

This was our second time eating at Pig and Khao. We had a wonderful experience the first time, coming for dinner. This time, we came for brunch and our experience was just as wonderful! Service was on point. Mike remembered us from the first time. That says a lot. The other wait staff were also very attentive, but definitely not overbearing. Tables are set close to one another, so you may hear other people's conversations. Also, it's an establishment that has Hip Hop decor and plays Hip Hop music. We love it, however, please keep in mind, they play the explicit versions. The volume of the music could be to try and drown out the conversations happening all around. We don't let that be a reason not to go for some DELICIOUS Filipino Fusion food. The food is amazing! We plan to try their other two locations in Manhattan soon!

Finally got to Pig & Khao - and it was fantastic! Food was exceptional and thoughtful. Was it super noisy with loud music blaring? Sure! But it's part of the charm as you indulge in eclectic cocktails and fun people-watching. This place is a great equalizer - uptown chic mixing with downtown cool and everything in between. Matthew, one of the twins, was a terrific server - got a read on our table pretty quickly and made sure we were happy, well-fed and never lacking a beverage. His humor and knowledge of the menu only added to the experience. Can't miss the Laksa dumplings, bbq ribs, fish in chuchee curry, brussels sprouts...so good!

Very tasty and original Thai dishes and great cocktails. Service is warm, efficient and excellent advice. One minor reservation: the noise level might be too "energetic".
