   We came to Proxi for a chef pop-up but having dined here a few times previously I knew the meal would be fantastic. In addition to the pop-up we ordered two vegetable dishes from the Proxi menu. The tempura elotes is an absolute must and for a refreshing and flavorful dish, the fennel apple chaat is your dish. We sat at the chef’s counter which I highly recommend for a chance to watch the action.

   Our dinner was absolutely delicious. We had 5 courses, and each one was superb. Elotes, Tamales, Kofta, Chaat and Foi Gras. Our waiter Jordan was excellent. Highly recommend Proxi

   I was looking forward to enjoying a nice dinner while visiting Chicago. I do appreciate that they were super accommodating when it came to moving our reservation. However I have to say that the meal itself was a bit underwhelming. I like Andrew Zimmerman and was looking forward to adding a Michelin rated restaurant to my list, but unfortunately I will not be visiting or recommending this place to others. I should have caught on when they sent me an email via open table that their pre fixe menu was not available. We started with the drinks, we ordered 3 Vietnamese espresso martinis. When the arrived all 3 had different looks, not consistent and underwhelming. Couldn’t taste the condensed milk and the cream was not great. We ordered 2 apps, 3 main dishes and no dessert as they offered 3 items with ice cream when the weather was freezing outside. The main plates came out cold, we shared the feedback with our waiter and rather than resolving, he didn’t really offer an explanation. I also felt super rushed and he came around 8:45 to announce it was last call for hot options (which never were hot in the first place). Really disappointing. I gave them a three star because the apps were really good, but the main dishes were a huge disappointment. We did end up eating the food as we were hungry, but if I had the option we probably should have sent them back…unfortunately I will not be going back.

   Unbelieveable experience. My wife and I can’t decide which course was our favorite. A must try for true foodies in Chicago. Service was outstanding!

   All around just mid. Portions were way smaller then your average michelin style course meals. Nibbled on food and my tab was $350. They added a health care surcharge and a server experience surcharge. Added an extra $50 for what. Never going back there.

    We went on Valentine's Day for a reservation at 8:45 P.M. It took us almost 20 minutes to get seated, which was a bit frustrating, considering the time of the reservation. When we were finally seated, service was fairly slow, which can be expected. However, we only saw our waitress when we placed our order, and she did not check in on us or ask if we wanted additional drinks. The steak was good, but the duck was a bit tough. For the amount we paid, I would have expected at least decent service. I wish I could say I enjoyed my experience, but based on the food quality, price, and service, I don't expect I will return.
