Our mission is to provide authentic Japanese food and exceptional “Omotenashi” services for people who love Japanese traditions, culture and food.

The name came from 嵐山 "Arashiyama" which also can be read as Ranzan. Arashiyama is a location in Kyoto, Japan where the Ranzan restaurant concept came from.

At Ranzan, the menu will change every month according to the seasons in Japan.

Hana Kaiseki lunch set. Includes 9 dishes We do not allow children under the age of 12 in the dining room unless they are able to partake in the full tasting menu. Many guests are celebrating a special occasion and look forward to a relaxing, uninterrupted evening. If a child is with the group, the group will be placed in a private room with a fee. We cannot do celiac disease specific menu. We can substitute gluten products like flour, but we cannot omit all traces of gluten from our dishes. Please specify allergens before dining. We may not be able to accommodate all allergens. No animals or pets are allowed in the dining area except for service dogs.

Went for lunch. Amazing kaiseki, service and sake testing. Restaurant was quiet and relaxing. Will go back for dinner soon.

Outstanding service, 5-6 courses were great and the other 5 not so much. Dessert could use a boost, the chestnut cake was dry and the fruit not the best quality. Great for a first time omakase experience in my backyard! Easy peezy parking, and the ladies who served left a memorable impression.

Excellent menu, authentic, umami in everything. The restaurant itself could use a bit more decor but the food, chef and service was outstanding.

We had lunch for two at Ranzan and had a wonderful experience from the moment we stepped inside -- felt like we had been transported to a peaceful environment with no traces of downtown Redwood City. We had the Shokadou Bento Lunch Set, and it was well crafted with lots of tasty smaller portions. We really enjoyed the Wagyu beef among other things. Service was perfect and overall I would highly recommend for a special occasion, business meal or time out with a spouse or good friend.

Service and Food are great, the only thing is the lighting is too bright for my eyes and the table was a little wobbling. Also, I don't like the layout of the tables, makes me feel like eating at the cafeteria. Some wall divider or some privacy between tables will be good...

It was our first time there. We shall be back when they change their menu. They are relatively expensive but provide good value.
