   Our server was amazing and the food was great. We had the bone marrow, filet, NY strip, corn, mashed potatoes, and cheesecake. The cheesecake was the best I’ve ever had! I LOVED the pear ginger martini and the smoked old fashioned was great too. The only complaint is that our table was literally straight across from the host stand. There should NOT be a table there and no one should be sat there unless the place is full which it definitely was not. We heard every conversation had between the staff and every phone call. It was awkward.

   The drinks and apps are good. The soup could have been warmer. The steak was a disaster. Ordered the 32 oz bone in tomahawk, wanting to split for two as my wife had been here before and when presented with it in the past with work colleagues, she enjoyed it. This time it was inedible. Very raw, to the table. So we sent it back. I’ve never sent a steak back in my life. When it came back, it seemed as though it was put into a blast furnace. The meat nearly tasted deep fried, had 0 flavor and somehow they managed to make all the fat on it hard as a rock and crunchy, yet still leave it raw… on refire. Even the button onion served with it was raw. Usually these are soft and spread akin to a butter. Not this one. Brussel sprouts are basic, mushrooms are disappointing, beef fat fries are good. Nearly every steak place in the city is better than this.

   Food was delicious as always. My only complaint is that the gentlemen in the booth next to us were very loud. The restaurant has plenty of space but all customers were concentrated in one area. Nobody wants to feel like they are at a Denny’s when eating a $150 dinner 😢

   I recently dined at Rare, unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations given the price point. With $100+ steaks (before accompaniments), I was expecting an experience that matched the cost—both in food quality and service. My ribeye was OK but nothing remarkable. At this level, a steak should be exceptional, and this one simply wasn’t. The service also fell short of what I’d expect from a high-end steakhouse. Servers weren’t as knowledgeable or attentive as they should be, especially when compared to similarly priced establishments. I remember this restaurant being much better a few years ago, but now it feels like both the service and quality of food has dipped.

   The crab legs were served cold. The server never returned to our table after our food was served to ask us how everything was. She did tell the chef about the cold crab legs and adjusted our check by reducing the crab legs by 50%

   Always my favorite restaurant for a special occasion. Food is always fresh, great quality and prepared perfectly.

    Horrible service; half our meal was not placed by the server resulting in mains that arrived a full 20 minutes before the sides. We were then left with the choice to either eat our main without sides, or allow the main to go cold and wait for the sides to arrive. A truly unacceptable experience for a restaurant that structures itself like a luxury destination. While the sides were eventually comp’ed it took an escalation to the manager for any action to be taken; and the mistake by the server was never acknowledged by him. We will not return to Rare, and will happily choose any of the other steakhouse restaurants in Milwaukee over it in the future.
