   The atmosphere is nice here, but the Sunday roast was very underwhelming. Our food came out before our drinks had arrived, and the meals weren't particularly hot. They were also drastically under seasoned. The meat was overcooked, dry and lacking in flavour. Veg was fine, although the potatoes were very school dinner. The cauliflower cheese was just greasy rather than tasting of cheese. It wasn't bad enough to complain about, all edible, although we weren't checked back on until we had nearly finished eating anyway. Obviously it was nice that it came out so quickly, but yeah definitely not really worth the price we paid. We also struggled to get the attention of our waitress several times - this is not necessarily her fault, perhaps just that the staggering of the table seating was not well done. The staff were welcoming and friendly at the door. Other than that I probably wouldn't bother coming back unless the menu or kitchen changes significantly.

   Disappointed with our visit today . We were taken to our table the waiter mumbled the specials, with his back to us .. food was ok but found the menu quite limited . The girl that brought drinks just dumped them on the table.Coffee was cold and had to be returned. Then nobody came back to our table for over an hour No extra drink’s offered we actually had to get up and ask someone to come to us. Paying the bill was a faff too

   Super on all counts. Friendly and attentive service. Truly dog friendly, with everyone and their dogs well behaved and respectful of each others’ space. Lovely food, the offering of extra bread with our soup was very much appreciated. Faultless, and a place to definitely return to.

   Great service and good was really good. I’d booked the bar but we were lucky to be reseated in the restaurant next to the large open fire.

   The pub was quiet when we arrived but was popular with lunch time patrons. We were waiting for one of our party so we ordered drinks only and chatted while we waited. The waitress did not rush us to order and left us to catch up while we waited. When our friend arrived, we were invited to order food, which was easy, and the waitress was pleasant. Food took a reasonable time to come, considering the number of patrons. We were hungry by the time we got our meals, as we’d chatted a long time. The fish finger sandwich tasted good though could have been a bit warmer. Our daughter liked her cheeseburger and my husband enjoyed his steak sandwich with onion rings. The drinks were as expected, though I thought £4.50 for a sparkling soft drink was a bit expensive. We had a tea and coffee after our meal. Our daughter had a sticky toffee pudding for dessert, which she devoured. It must have been good! We enjoyed our meal overall, and the Red Lion had a nice ambience on a cold February day, with a lit fire. It was certainly popular during the lunch time of our visit, so looks like it has a good foot-fall of patrons dining there.

   Had a lovely lunch at the Red Lion. The food was delicious, cooked perfectly and well presented. Warm and inviting atmosphere with friendly service from the whole team. Good location, just outside the city centre, with sufficient parking. Will be back again for sure!

   Met up with a friend after work and had a lovely meal at the Red Lion. Good selection on the menu and value for money. Team were friendly and welcoming. Will look forward to coming back again for our regular meet up.

    Had a late Sunday lunch, very busy, very noisy the roast chicken was substituted with turkey, this was very dry and the trimmings were average. My wife had the burger which was great, so I made a poor menu choice I guess. The restaurant is a busy noisy environment which I didn’t particularly enjoy. Service was great,polite and friendly.
