Dining at RED O is an experience like no other that offers a unique combination of Prime Steak and Seafood with Rick Bayless’ signature Mexican inspired influences. With sustainably sourced and local ingredients, RED O creates flavorful dishes true to the authentic flavors of Mexico. RED O’s team of friendly employees creates a welcoming atmosphere that parallels the luxury resort interior of the restaurant. RED O also features an impressive bar and lounge where you’ll find specialty cocktails, an extensive tequila list and an award winning wine list. The bar also offers Happy Hour from 3-6 p.m. daily and Late Night Happy Hour from 9-11pm Friday-Saturday.

If you go... ask to be seated in Kevin's area! He was our server and he was amazing!! Best experience I've had at a restaurant in a while! The ambience was nice and the service felt so personal!! Highly recommend this place and Kevin!

Red O had a Mariscos Chili Relleno several years ago but discontinued it. We visited Red O last Sunday for our 45th wedding anniversary. We asked about this dish and was told they did have it again but only on Fridays and Saturdays. Based on this information, I booked a reservation on Friday. I called around noon on Friday to confirm they would have this dish. I was told they would so I confirmed my reservation. Well, when we ordered, one of the servers (not our waiter) told us they did not have it tonight. He said the chef thought there would not be enough people so they did not make the dish. I talked to the manager and she apologized for the mix up and suggested we order their lobster enchiladas and offered to comp a dessert. We agreed and when the waiter arrived, we ordered the lobster enchiladas. He then told us they no longer have lobster enchiladas. They only have shrimp enchiladas. We settled on ordering it. The shrimp enchiladas had bay shrimp - terrible and extremely disappointing. Definitely not worth $36. The manager did comp our bill $20 but it is unforgivable that they disappointed us 3x in one night. Very disconcerting!

We travel around the country and try to make the dining experience part of our vacation. We had learned about red O the last time we went to San Diego and didn’t have time to experience the restaurant. So we made a point of it this year. I will say that it has to be one of the best restaurants we’ve ever had the pleasure of dining. We come from a state that serves a lot of beef and I will say that the 18 ounce ribeye was better than anything I had from our home state. My spouse had the half a pound lobster and it was done to perfection. So I highly recommend anyone experiencing this restaurant if they have the opportunity. The weight staff was incredible. And we will definitely put in our plans for next time we’re in San Diego.

Christmas Eve Dinner at Red O - A Memorable Experience from ambiance to dessert and everything in between. This Christmas Eve, my family and I broke from tradition and chose to dine at Red O instead of our usual steakhouse or seafood spot. It turned out to be a fantastic decision, and we couldn’t have been more pleased with our experience. Our meals were nothing short of exceptional. The Filet Mignon was perfectly cooked, tender and flavorful, while the Chicken Enchiladas were a savory blend of spices and comfort. The Rack of Lamb was cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of seasoning, and the Surf & Turf offered a delightful combination of succulent grilled lobster and a juicy steak. Every dish exceeded our expectations. The service was also outstanding. Both the management and the staff were incredibly attentive, ensuring that every need was met with warmth and professionalism. It was clear that they were dedicated to making our holiday meal special, setting the tone for a wonderful evening. And of course, save room for dessert. The Tres Leches Cake was an absolute standout—a light, decadent treat that’s a must-try. If you’re a fan of butter cake, the version here is an indulgence you won’t want to miss. Overall, Red O provided the perfect setting and exceptional dining experience for our Christmas Eve celebration. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable meal in a festive atmosphere

We love this place! It’s been our Christmas Eve tradition while we’ve lived in SD and we often take friends here when they visit. Food and service is always good.
