A very cool restaurant. Amazing atmosphere, great food and even better service. We will definitely be returning. There is lots of parking behind the restaurant in a pay lot that was very well lit and safe.

Dropped in late Saturday afternoon/early evening with wife and another couple. We’re Senior Citizens who value a good meal and a beer at a moderate price while football plays on the TVs overhead. Never disappointed with the service, the food, nor the old mountain lodge woodwork and vibe of Rhein Haus. One nit to pick: watch the sound balance. TV announcers, celebrating bar patrons, bocce and pool players create an ample volue of noise. Is it really necessary to crank the overhead background music to 11? Sheesh. It rattled the fillings in my teeth and pretty well killed all hope of simple conversation. The jazz great, Thelonius Monk, preached “Less is More”. He knew his stuff.

I had looked forward to eating at the Rhein Haus for years and finally decided to make it there for my birthday. We ordered sausage plates with mashed potatoes. The sausage was okay but nothing we couldn't have done at home and the potatoes were just boring. So for me the food was a 2. In addition, the server either had too much to do or didn't care enough because he was slow to the table and unfriendly each time he came by. The ambience is a bar with TVs on (sports that night) which is fine unless you are hoping for a good German restaurant.

Decided to go for a "fun" dining experience, at a place with non-hoppy beer options, which is increasingly rare. Pretzels, sausages, and strudel! And a great house hefe for those, like me, who prefer this type of beer. Service was outstanding, with friendly staff who made great recommendations for first-time diners. Will be back on future trips.

We arrived around 3:00 pm on a Monday and the restaurant was not busy at all so didn't have its usual charm. Our waiter further ruined our time: he had absolutely no rapport (didn't even try), spoke with a monotone and was not the least bit engaging. Perhaps a D rating overall. This is not the type of experience we wanted to have. Everyone enjoyed the food and beer, but I've told several friends about the overall dining experience was subpar due to the poor waitstaff. Made me very sad because was supposed to be a celebratory event.
Rhein Haus - SeattleResponded on September 17, 2025
Jerrine, we're sorry to hear about your experience with the service during what should have been a celebratory event. While it's great that you enjoyed the food and beer, we clearly missed an opportunity to provide exceptional service. We appreciate your feedback and would like to make it right if possible. Please feel free to reach out at any time. Thank you.

I took my boyfriend here as a last-minute birthday dinner. I expected it would be a bar atmosphere and figured I could expect decent sausages and a fine beer. HOWEVER, I got so much more... The atmosphere is great, very comfortable, and the service is attentive and casual. I cannot remember my servers name, but she was the cutest curly haired darling and had the nicest smile. The food came out quickly and HOLY COW! We ordered the platter with SIX Sausages, Mashed Potatoes and Sauerkraut, plus a side of German Potato Salad. FIRST OFF .... they have NO business making mashed potatoes THAT good without a 30-foot sign outside. They were so silky and so buttery with the perfect amount of acid and salt .... MY GOD, Perfection. The Kraut and Potato salad were also incredible, but I only have 2000 characters, and we haven't gotten to the SAUSAGE!!!!!!!!! GIRL WHAT?!?!?!? Each one was better than the last. The Kielbasa is so smokey and perfectly seasoned, but the HABANERO CHEDDAR?!?!? MY GOD.... you cut into this perfectly made sausage and the juices and cheese run out onto the potato's I WANTED TO SCREAM. It was nearly a "Harry met Sally" moment.... WE are in our fifties and don't get this much excitement often, but we stayed strong and brave and powered on to the BRATWURST.... dare I say SILKY?!?? IS this a VELVET sausage??? Paired with the Kraut, which is tangy yes, but so much flavor and perfectly balance. Absolutely sensational.... Each bite had such incredible flavor, texture, seasoning, personality, I am guessing they play the sausages classical music and hold them in fluffy white robes and slippers for service.... these sausages tasted PRIVILEGED. Short story long.... we were both SO impressed. The food was way beyond our expectations; we took plenty home. All of our friends are so tired of hearing about it, and we have made plans to bring them in to prove, what we already know... Rhein House is the Palace of Sausage, and MASHED POTATO MY GOD.... Protect this Chef!!
