   The smoked duck is really a must-order item. Service is mildly convoluted and it’s a no frills vibe (flatware comes in a box and is just sort of left on the table, the dishes arrive and don’t really fit on the table), but with that knowledge beforehand could be a lot of fun for a night out.

   Arrived early for the reservation intending to get a drink at the bar. Stood for 15 min trying to get service at the bar with no success. Was seated for the reservation on time, however was seated directly in front of the main door. Not ideal, but combined with the disappointment from the bar, made even worse. Our server, Aurora, was phenomenal once at the table and the food was great. The main came out much later than the side. We were notices of the kitchen’s error and our first round was complimentary bc of this.

   Don’t get me wrong, the restaurant is very nice and the food is great, but the prices are a little outrageous. I understand it’s high quality but If I’m paying $30 for two slices of sashimi, I find that a little absurd. On another note the atmosphere is great and it seems like a very cool spot to go with friends but the pricing needs to change. Your best bang for your buck is the duck.

   Ambience is solid, music might be a tad loud for the size of the tables. I’m not sure what Ro is trying to be. Are they trying to be like Uchi/Nobu with pricing but worse ambience/service? Not sure. For what the price is, I wouldn’t recommend Ro. Good date spot, excellent yellowtail but I’ve spent far less at higher scale restaurants with better food and overall service. Either way, I can appreciate Ro for what it is, but understand the 4/5 star reviews. Very good in terms of Tampa food, mid in terms of sushi restaurants across the board. If you’re going to price the sushi at uchi/nobu prices then the presentation or delivery should match. Each time we got our 8-10 pieces of nigiri we would be guessing as to which piece was which (or having to ask). If you’re spending ~$300 on a meal, there should at least be some style points in delivery so I know what I’m eating and can appreciate it. Waitress was great, we had one dish we disliked immensely and she comp’d that which was beyond appreciated. Very attentive and helpful.

   Pretentious, loud and over priced. The staff were amazing though - polite, kind, helpful. The food was ok - not terrible but not amazing; portions were very small for the price. The music was so loud - felt like we were at a club, could barely talk to each other. Lastly, the setup is awful - there didn’t seem to be a seat where you weren’t “in the way” - of the entrance, the bar, the bussing area, etc.

    The ambiance was great for a fun night out. They had a live DJ—it was loud but enjoyable. The food was good, nothing extraordinary but solid. The drinks were just okay, not great. I did order an off-menu drink, so that might have played a role. Nothing was bad, but nothing stood out as particularly special or memorable. Service was mediocre. It took the server 15 minutes just to take our drink order, and our appetizers arrived well before the drinks. The server never checked in to see if I wanted another drink. When I asked what kind of steak was in one of the appetizers because it was surprisingly tender, he had no idea. While he was nice, he felt more like a food runner than an attentive server. A minor but frustrating detail—after dessert was served, he brought out another bottle of water without asking. My glass wasn’t empty, and we were nearly done with the meal, making the extra $8 charge feel unnecessary. Ironically, this was the only time he paid real attention to the table. Overall, I wouldn’t go back. Tampa has plenty of better options. But if you’re out of choices, it’s not the worst place to end up.
