Robata Grill & Sake Bar has the highest quality fresh fish and seafood. Head sushi chef, Cirilo, has been with the restaurant for 23 years. Robata Grill is known for their authentic sushi rolls, nigiri, and Japanese style pork ribs. The outdoor patio is spacious, inviting and features a large cozy firepit. As soon as you walk into the restaurant you will notice the beautiful Japanese woodwork craftmanship. There are multiple different seating options including: the bar area, secluded booths, large open tables, a banquet room, and the highly desired sushi bar. Robata Grill is located just 25 miles north of Big Sur, CA and 5 miles from Downtown Monterey.

    Food was expensive and very mediocre. Although the menu made it sound good, there was nothing special and it did not seem the sushi was even freshly made.

    Food is excellent, service good and really friendly, only issue is that while the service is good and friendly, staffing is a little light, and at the busy hour things are a bit slow.

    This is one of my favorite restaurants and it is easy to get to and I'm always treated like a valued customer. Good food, too!

    You can't find a quieter spot for a very late lunch or very early dinner than Robata at 4 PM! As usual, offerings wide and good. I always seem to end up with some Tempura, Miso soup and barbecued rice to go with my main, which was steak. Delicious.

    I am only leaving this review because the experience we had at Robata Grill & Sake Bar in Carmel was so different than the ratings I see here. The menu looked hopeful as we were looking for an authentic meal. Unfortunately, the food was more akin to an all you can eat sushi bar chain than an authentic robata experience. Not a high-end Japanese restaurant at all.
