   Underwhelming and rather disappointing experience which left us feeling a bit ripped off. Restaurant was very busy as expected but felt a bit chaotic at times and noise levels from other guests rose to a level that disturbed our experience. Saying that, I would commend the manager who fairly quickly addressed that situation by asking them to quieten down. The menu states that dishes will be served as they become ready indicating that this should be a positive aspect of dining here. The reality of that approach was ending up with a mish mash of things on the table that didn’t go together. Example, we ordered rice as a side to accompany the meat/seafood main dishes, but one bowl of rice turned up with starters such as gyoza and the other randomly showed up later on, by which time the first bowl had gone cold. The sushi came at the end but on the set menu it is laid out to suggest it would be served early which would be preferable. We received the octopus dish early and then lamb towards the end yet these were both presented as ‘main’ type dishes. I think some semblance of order of service is needed as it was random to the point where it delivered a pretty dissatisfying eating experience overall. Whilst the food largely tasted good, we thought it was on the whole overpriced, we had the wagyu beef entree and even though I appreciate this type of beef is relatively expensive, four 50p diameter sized thin wafer thin slices with some surrounding garnish at a price of over £10 felt like pushing it a tad. Happy to pay for quality and presentation to a point, but feel in many places Robun fell short of justifying what they charged. A few little bits of drama with smoke and glass domes didn’t add enough to make the bill feel worth it for us. We were genuinely disappointed because we love sushi and Japanese food so were excited to try this place and wish it had delivered what we were anticipating, sorry to have to honestly say it didn’t on this occasion

   Overall really enjoyed the cocktails and the food. The staff were really friendly and helpful but when we arrived there was an awful sewer smell, which lingered in the restaurant and put me off my food quite a bit. We’ve been to this restaurant numerous times and it’s always been very very nice, so I will definitely go again and hope that whatever issue they had with pipes has been rectified.

   Disappointing start to an enjoyable meal. I booked several weeks in advance for 17.45 pre theatre. Restaurant had a few tables taken, we were shown to a table in the middle at the end near the service station whilst the premium tables for two remained empty. We asked to be moved and told this was not possible, I suggested that advance bookings should take precedent to walk ins. Did I want to see the manager? Yes! We were then offered a side table , we would have walked if this had not been offered . From then on the experience was lovely and the service from a young drama student was excellent.

   Indifferent food and far too expensive. Atmosphere was OK. However, the waitress - who was charming - couldn't advise us about wine as she never drank; she was only 16 years old. I would not go back.

   Hugely over priced tasting menu. Plates just dumped with no explanation although another server seemed to notice this and followed up to explain but all servers should be trained. The food was tasty but very salty throughout and absolutely not on par with the price charged. Wagamamas is opposite - get equivalent quality food, better ambience and for half the price. Huge disappointment and how they get recommended in the Michelin guide is beyond me.

   A lovely dinner out while visiting Bath for one night. Lovely food with really helpful, knowledgeable staff about the menu. We will definitely be returning.

    Our second time at Robun. We chose the sharing menu between 3 of us. Highly recommended! Beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Such a special Japanese restaurant in Bath. And not a chain too. Only criticism was it was a bit chilly last night in the restaurant. It had been snowing yesterday so was our first very cold day. Maybe a little more heating!
