About ROKA

The name ROKA carries great meaning - ROKA is a meeting place where food and drinks are shared with friends (ro) and heat, warmth and an all-embracing energy surround (ka). The principle cuisine is from the robata grill, which originates from the fishermen of the northern coastal waters off japan, who would cook the fish on the boats with different charcoals and share the bounty with one another using their oars.

ROKA charlotte street opened in 2004, ROKA canary wharf in 2009, ROKA mayfair in february 2014 and ROKA aldwych in october 2014.

                                                I visit Charlotte street ROKA fairly regularly, so expected the same service in the Mayfair branch. Unfortunately was quite disappointed. The service was very very poor. The staff were not bothered at all. We also had to send one dish back as it was not fresh. I won’t be returning to the Mayfair branch.

                                                Service was very poor, had to ask repeatedly for water. Offered still or sparkling (in the interests of the environment tap water should be offered). Food was good.

                                                Sadly Roka doesn’t feel like a premium experience any more. I’ve been many times but it felt like an over priced chain restaurant this time. Signature cod dish very over cooked, cocktails were watery and lots of other dishes just a bit bland. Such a shame as it used to be amazing

                                                Was disappointed as we were looking forward to it. We gave our entire order and they bought out mains before all starters. They did apologise which we appreciated and also offered us a second starter that was delivered to our table incorrectly for free but it felt there was some level of disorganisation. My main course was cold and temperature of food was variable. Don’t think we will return to this branch.

                                                Food and ambience always good. Service at reception (wait for 10 mins to check in) and serving staff (missed orders) was very disappointing for Roka.

                                                Terrible experience here but it was during the busy Christmas period…nonetheless service was woeful from the get go, had to call a waiter to be served after sitting down for 15min unattended, cherry on the top was the two pieces of hair I found in 2 different dish. Suffice to say, I’ll never be returning here.

                                                Always have a good time in Roka. Fabulous food - my favourites Black Cod, Crème Brulee with Pistachio Gelato :) Recommend the premium set menu. Excellent service by Christina - grazie! Merry Christmas and see you in the New Year Roka.
