Rookie Eatery offers diners contemporary Australian cuisine in a casual context. A produce-driven menu centres on modern Australian food, as the kitchen serves an eclectic mix of local ingredients with multicultural influences. At Rookie, we believe that ‘Australian cuisine’ is a multicultural phenomenon that exists nowhere else in the world and so we aim to provide a contemporary interpretation with the local ingredients on offer. The result is a diverse inspiration of eastern and western cultures brought together with fragrant and fresh flavours. An on-site herb garden provides the kitchen with a range of indigenous and introduced herb species, whilst a commitment to strong supplier relationships sees the South Coast’s best produce showcased.

    Excellent meal however we were seated next to a table of 5 young men having a joyful reunion which resulted in the high noise rating.

    For our Anniversary dinner this dining experience was the best we have had in years, from the time we were welcomed and escorted to our table then Annabelle explained the menu choices, the food was magnificent and timing of course delivery with the banquet was perfect, not too quick , all staff were very friendly and professional, thankyou for this fine dining experience 👏⭐️ Regards Geoff and Cathy.

    Our fifth visit here, after a break of a year, was fine and the service was terrific as usual but Rookie is nowhere near as satisfying as in the past. The Asian sauces were too overpowering and cloying, drowning out the taste of both the veges and meat. One dish came with nothing but char sui pork slices and nothing green, crisp, or tart to alleviate the jus or Chinese mustard garnish. We craved fresh, light balance to the sticky heat of our mains. Even the beans were drowned in a chilli jam. The exceptions were the miso snapper, kingfish sashimi and the crisp eggplant entrees, with the latter a standout.

    Absolutely amazing food and service! We dined for my mum’s birthday and the waitress went out of her way to say happy birthday which was special and the food just outstanding! We loved every moment in this special place!

    Another wonderful lunch at Rookie to celebrate 2 friends birthdays. We selected the lunchtime snack menu, which is like a mini degustation, food is delicious & its only $44pp. The waitress even let me change the 1st dish, as I had been there a few times lately. I fully recommend Rookie for any Friday lunch or special occasion.

    Service was awesome. A little disappointed with the food though. I hadn’t been before so had hoped for a swish menu, however they were quite salty and tasted similar across the feast.
